I was having a few issues that made me upgrade my x notifier and as a user of this product for a very very long time . I am wondering if there will be a bug fix as i read reviews when i was making one there and noticed on reading I am not the only one with issues with the latest firefox...My notifier no longer at all.... will auto check on timer at all.. only if i manually click ' check now' will it bother to check for me ..
Firstly, I should thank the author for this wonderful extension. It's hard work, and with firefox being as customizable as it is, something is bound to break only too often. Sometimes you can search and find how to troubleshoot, sometimes you just give up. That being said, I would like to share what I've learnt from experience about gmail, outlook and yahoo.
1. x-notifier works sessions and cookies, ie creates sessions with saved passwords and also saves the cookies for quick checks.
Gmail has warned me that someone took my password recent 4 months. However, when I checked it, it was me. Other email providers are ok (Hotmail and Yahoo), but only Gmail has pushed me to change my password. Therefore, I had to change my password constantly and it is pretty stressful.
I installed other email add-ons and they are ok. The Gmail issue with X-notifier has stopped. Thus, I think that X-notifier has a problem with Gmail.
Hi guys. have x-notifier setup and works fine most all the time. But saw my logins & password on the Firefox Login& password page so tried a Fx Mater password to prevent prying eyes. But then x-notifier stopped working.
Google has recently become more aggressive in alerting and sometimes blocking log-in attempts that it thinks are suspicious. Sometimes G-mail demands that I change passwords, and at the minimum it sends messages to my account and the backup email address for that account.
I've used X-Notifier for a while now -- which is quite good. However ...
In the past, my 1&1 mailbox was supported by X-Notifier. I would see that new mail had arrived, and -- when I clicked the link, I would be brought to my mailbox.
Recently, however, 1&1 changed (I believe) -- so, now, when I see new mail has arrived, clicking the link brings me to a login page (despite the fact that my login information is already in X-Notifier). I suspect the existing script needs to be updated to fully bypass the login screen and open the mailbox itself?
