GMX - Script update needed?

Dear tobwithu!

There seems to be a problem with checking GMX-accounts. I tried on different computers (using firefox) and the icon is always stating "GMX not checked" and is leading just to the GMX-main-page. I used the latest version of X-Notifier as well as of the GMX-script.

Maybe the script needs to be updated?

Many thanks in advance for any help.

Best regards,

Andreas

yes gmx not work

I have the same problem here.

  1. The developer (tobwithu) is not reading this forum frequently. Users are helping users here.
  2. The user doing most of the help here is RpD and he might be offline for some days (?). He also contacts the developer when complaints seem valid.
  3. Provide more info:
One should at least state which of the three GMX scripts has the problem.
  4. Send the log file to xndevel@gmail.com:
    http://xnotifier.tobwithu.com/dp/node/4
(This will also alert the developer)

I've tried all available gmx scripts with activated logging. X-Notifier says 'not checked' but the saved logfile is empty.

holger_s's picture

also the same effekt.

jeroen's picture

I sent a mail to the developer to inform him, in case he was not yet aware of the issue.

Was there any reaction from the developer?

At the moment this addon seems to be dead.

jeroen's picture

No reaction yet on my email of 19/11.
The logical reason could well be that the developer is on a holiday, without access to the internet.
Also did send an email to RpD (a user helping out other users) on 24/11.  No reply from him either, possibly for the same reason.
Since GMX was first reported on 12/11, it has been 2 weeks.

Myself I usually have vacation for at least 4 weeks, often without checking my email. I really don't understand the drama... This extension has been built, maintained and supported by one person for years and years and years.  It is not his daytime job, just a very appreciated 'hobby' serving a very large public.

There is no reason for getting angry... Be patient.

I give you some example...

As you know that "Donation-ware", he (tobwithu) owe people nothing...

UNLESS you make "bribe", for example... You send private email to Tobwithu... by said as example...

"If I (GMX User) make donation amount $20.00, you (tobwithu) will fix GMX script?"

If Tobwithu reply "yes" then you donation 20 bucks, and he will upload update scripts with-in ONE hour!

If Tobwithu reply "no", then you know he can NOT fix GMX scripts, because on GMX's end... not Tobwithu's or Xnotifier's fault!

I am not joke about this...

gmx_user_xyz's picture

You're serious about this? This is the way how people will be treated here in future? No payment, no script, no update?

The script is broken since weeks and calls for help are here ever since, nothing changes. And now suddenly the demand for "donation" is jumping up - and the problem will be solved within one hour.

Thank you, but no thank you, and good bye, I will delete X-notfier and will live without it!

That if know how to write Scripts.

I do NOT know how to write Scripts, me DUMB/STUPID!

My first 3 years, I give Tobwithu donation and get Scripts updated!

For past two years, I ask Tobwithu that I can write User Guide to exchange favor for Scripts?
he just simple give me access to User Guide forms for me to write it.

If you see their home page it says...

I give you example... 1311+669=1980 people use GMX.NET and GMX.COM

IF, IF people give just ONE cent each GMX User, it will be $19.80 dollars!

That why I said $20.00 dollars from ONE person and HELP other 1979 people who will NOT pay at all,
for example see comments above... (copy and paste here)
Thank you, but no thank you, and good bye, I will delete X-notfier and will live without it!

Talk about "solved problem one hour",
DID you send private email to Tobwithu and ask "WHO FAULT" on GMX's end or Xnotifier's end?
(IF your respond "NO", then you can NOT complain!)

So, I (CFBancroft) said... Good BYE to YOU!

Currently supports [That is Tobwithu's responsbile to update Scripts!]

I disagree, he's the author of the script, therefore he is in charge of updates.
If you get your script somewhere else, then sure, the author is the one in charge.

The currently supports thing only means it supports these out-of-the-box (without installing anything else).

This extension has been built, maintained and supported by one person for years and years and years.  It is not his daytime job, just a very appreciated 'hobby' serving a very large public.

That is true, but tobwithu is the only maintainer by choice - hosting x-notifier in a public repo (on github or w/e) would make user contributions trivial, so fixing scripts would (in best case ofc) take him a single click.

Anyway, the GMX scripts look fairly simple, and shouldn't be hard to fix.
If anyone can create a sample account (only seems to allow German users), and send the details to me (stranac@hotmail.com), I can give fixing this a try when I get the chance.

johnny's picture

I got a sample account, and I think I should have the time to try working some magic in the evening.

Will post here if I manage to fix it.

johnny's picture

I thought I'd just take a quick look, but the fix was simpler than expected (only a few parameters needed updating).

You can find the (hopefully) fixed scripts (both with and without navigator - no idea what navigator is) in my github repo: https://github.com/stranac/x-notifier-scripts

Let me know if you encounter any problems.

jeroen's picture

GMX apparently only changed some parameters of the login form (loginData). Nothing changed in the authentication network scenario. Good for you ;-)

Hello,
The latetst web.de script doesen´t work (like the latest gmx.de script) <see here: http://xnotifier.tobwithu.com/dp/node/3122>

I´m hopeful you can help us,too.
Because the gmx script you wrote here works very fine.
let me know how I can send you the data from a test account, if you need this.

Thank you very much
Kind regards

Dear Johnny, thank you so much for fixing the issue last december! It worked fine until this week. I do not know if the new problem came up because of an update of Firefox to Version 45.0 or if it concerns GMX/web.de/1&1 itself.

Maybe you are able to provide another updated script?! Unfortunately I am not able to do so :-(

Thank you in advance!

holger_s's picture

since a few days it dosn't work.... (Firefox 45.0)

jeroen's picture

Just to avoid the ongoing confusion: You do indeed mean the GMX script?

GMX.COM, my mistake.
