Using IMAP for Gmail issue

Forums
X-notifier 3.x for Firefox (deprecated)

Hello.

Due to the recent issues with checking Gmail in 3.5.23, I decided to switch to IMAP (I need 3.5.23 anyway since I got another IMAP account check working fine).

However, it does not work... All settings are correct, X-Notifier connects and starts checking email, but then stopsand marks account as "not checked".

I have a lot of emails... So I suspected it have problem because if this...

Once I enabled and checked debug log the problem became apparent - there is so much email, that X-Notifier tries to open many connections to IMAP - and Gmail only supports maximum 15, so after some work, X-Notifier gets this from Gmail server:

xxxxxx@gmail.com|imap.gmail.com    302    A099 NO [ALERT] Too many simultaneous connections. (Failure)\r\n

Question - is there any way to restrict X-Notifier from opening that many IMAP connections?

X Notifier replacement

Forums
X-notifier 3.x for Firefox (deprecated)

After many years of using X-notifier which I always considered one of the all time top five firefox addons and due to changes made by firefox which now inhibits the function of X-notifier,I have now reverted to Thunderbird.

I unfortunately couldn't get latest versions of X-notifier or X-notifier Neo to work.

I was pleased to note that Thunderbird has recently also reverted to the Mozilla Foundation.  It is easier to set up than it used to be for sure and does what it says "on the tin."

So I wish to thank Tobewithu for all his work over the years and wish him every success in his new business.

Kind Regards,   weg.

Which version???

Forums
X-notifier 3.x for Firefox (deprecated)

Can anyone tell me which version of X-notifier works best with which version of firefox. I have been using it for many years and always been very happy with its performance but lately I can't seem to get it to work with any of the latest versions of FF.

Thank you

Custom Sound Issue on 4.0.3

Forums
X-notifier 3.x for Firefox (deprecated)

I've already posted a request here

http://xnotifier.tobwithu.com/dp/node/3548

concerning the possibility to play a preview sound like in the old version.

Now I found a problem on this custom sound. The setting desappears when I import a .xn file with my mailmoxes data.

Could anyone confirm that?

Gmail's new login prevents XN from checking mail

Forums
X-notifier 3.x for Firefox (deprecated)

I have XN 3.5.23 in Firefox as well as XN 4.0.3 in Chrome and both do the same thing.
As Google is rolling out their new log in, I'm losing accounts 1 by 1.
Friday I lost one, Saturday I lost 4 more throughout the day... so I've now lost the ability of XN to check 5 out of 7 Gmail accounts.
Those 5 are in red, and if I click on any of them, it just takes me to the Google Account log in page and I put in my Email and password then it takes me to my account home page... then I have to select the mail from there.

Hopefully Tobewithu can find the time to figure out a way around all this in the very near future so we don't have to manually log in to each account regularly just to see if there's any new mail :\

Put 'enable' and 'disable' selection back in 4.03 xnotifier please

Forums
X-notifier 3.x for Firefox (deprecated)

like it had in 3.53, or someway of having it 'on' or 'off' like when your working on something.

Do like the 4.03 version, and it is working with Gmail again(and yahoo and hotmail) for me, but need a way to have it stop checking when you don't want to use network for that, or don't want to be disturbed.

Appreciate the work you do on this, and have been a user for a longtime ;)    For those having the trouble of the accounts wiping out, first export after you have your acounts setup and working, this way you have a backup you can reload, then if you use CCCleaner like I do, remember to go into 'Options>cookies>save list and save the Xnotifier ones so you dont lose your accounts!

Losing Accounts When Clearing Cache/Cookes on FireFox

Forums
X-notifier 3.x for Firefox (deprecated)

I've been using this addon for a long time and it has been fantastic.

However, ever since Version 4.02 and Greater I seem to lose the accounts when clearing cache/cookies on the FireFox Broswer.

I also downloaded new addon called X-Notifier Neo and it has the same problem.

Not sure how to use it because I don't want to enter my accounts every time the cookies are cleared.

Any way to fix this?

New Version Questions/Problems

Forums
X-notifier 3.x for Firefox (deprecated)

First, I see people specifying which version of XN they are using. How do I determine that?

I appear to have a new version as on FF I can no longer display a sidebar. My XN accounts are in an icon at the top of my browser. I assume this is intentional and indicates I'm on a different version that I was on yesterday. But I'm having problems.

All my XN accounts were wiped out. So I have to add them all back manually. Luckily, FF Preference Manager still has all my passwords. But even after manually adding them XN is not displaying any indication that I have unread emails. All the account aliases are red with no numbers next to them. However, I know that my credentials are correct because if I click on any of the account aliases, I am taken to my email account (all Gmail) as expected.

Does this new version of XN display the number of unread messages? If so, why are the numbers not showing for me? Did I do something wrong? Is this a bug in XN?

I am on FF 53.0 on Mac OSX 10.11.6

Thanks.
