X-notifier 3.x for Firefox (deprecated)

I've been using this add-on since the begining and it has been running most of the time quite good.

Today I can't logging to my Hotmail account because is greyed out, if I click the icon (for hotmail) I've got this message:

I can't get x-notifier to work at all - even in chrome it doesn't work - it USED to work great in firefox - I LOVED it, would do one click and it would open all gmail accounts and yahoo accounts that had unread messages in.  Now, nothing works at all.  No matter what I click on, I just get taken to the gmail home page.  Even yahoo doesn't work.  I tried neo - that doesn't work either.  I have several gmail and yahoo accounts, I USED to have them all stored in a .xn file, so that all passwords were saved in there - even if I use the saved .xn file, nothing works.  Can anyone help at all?  I even backdated firefox AND used an old version of x-notifier for a while, but I know that's not safe - best to always use the updated versions - but now I cannot get any webmail notifiers.  Help :-(  I'm into this about 6 hours of trying and researching.... up against a dead end.... :-(

Just so you know, I don't mind if I can get it to work in chrome OR firefox.. .just so long as it works somewhere!!

I'm using Xnotifier for Firefox, which is updated to the latest version (4.0.3). Everyday is erases the accounts, but I can't find the cookies to save either in Firefox settings or Ccleaner settings. Searching for "xnotifier" like some posts in other threads suggests yields nothing. Another bug is every time I start Firefox for the first time each day I get the update message as if a new version updated, but it hasn't since May 9th.

UPDATE:

I think I found a solution. In CCleaner, go into Options -> Exclude -> Add and navigate to your AppData folder. Go to Local -> Mozilla and choose that, then repeat the process for the LocalLow and Roaming folders. This makes the program keep everything in Mozilla files, even Add-On files. I tried it and it worked.

I know this was addressed in another thread, but could someone please tell me if a solution was found? I cannot find where the XN files are saved. I'm assuming they are saved in appdata, but can't located them except in the Tor browser, which I hardly ever use. I know I can tell CCleaner to ignore a file if I now where it is, but I have no idea where it is.

I hope someone can help me.

Recently Gmail updated their login page, and by default, the account is activated in high-security
so disable in low and wait a fews hours !

For 4.0.2 (never working for me)... try my method too!

add:  fews hours = 20h

work with 2 gmail + 1 yahoo + 2 hotmail > http://hardetsoft.free.fr/xnotifier.jpg

Don't know if this is easily corrected but once a dark theme like BlackFox or LavaFox or LavaFox Purple is applied, the menu when clicked is dark with dark text making it unreadable. The new version of X-Notifier with the dark theme also doesn't display the "letter icon" either. It does when the default theme is applied though.

I know this can easily be fixed just by not applying the theme but previous versions remained unaffected with the them.

FWIW - This is my favorite add-on for firefox and simply the best out their for on-line webmail.

I want to express a big thanks to the developer tobwithu for this great addon which I was using for many many years. I understand that Firefox has changed something which has put the developer of X-notifier in a very difficult situation but I still beleive that he will not give up and will continue to develop the addon as good as it was.

Now unfortunately the addon is DOWN even when I am using the alternate version of X-notifer NEO. Sorry to say this, but this is not what the user want to have in his computer with all security and privacy options open to the web allowing access third party cookies which is not my plesant behaviour.

Secondly, I don't understand why are you using this kind of forum software which is very difficult to view or follow the topics. There is a few free forum software which gives a good functionality as SimpleMachinesForum or something simillar. This is not clear to me, but for the members it will be more simple and better to see the whole forum. Also from the administration point of view there is a lot of tools that can make this software very easy for maintenance. I am sure that you can find a way to connect the X-notifier with other forum software. Please don't get me wrong that I want to insult somebody, instead that my intention's are best for the forum members and administration.

No Thunderbird forum; Thunderbird is a related product to Firefox, thus posting here.

Just a note that... finally I notice something wrong on one of my accounts... on Thunderbird 52.1.0 with X-Notifier 3.5.23 ...Yahoo is no longer being checked although when I click the account on the XN icon drop-down list, it goes right into my inbox.
However, it certainly looks different... owing to the fact that Thunderbird is not a full browser implementation, so it can't render the website the same as Firefox.
Perhaps that is why my Yahoo stopped being checked... maybe Yahoo's changes broke some compatibility with Thunderbird/XN. However, Firefox 53.0.2 with XN 3.5.23 is still checking all my accounts, including Yahoo (except deviantART, for which its script needs updating).

As not too many of  you run Thunderbird, I don't expect too many confirmations of this glitch.
If someone can tell me it works for them... I'll start troubleshooting ;) :(
