Automatically retrieve 2-step authentication security code

By james890526 , 4 March 2015

No idea if this could be done, but it would be great if X-notifier can automatically retrieve the security code of the 2-step authentication for all emails. I'm currently using it on all Microsoft accounts (Hotmail specifically) and the website will automatically get the codes where I'll just need to check and approve.

Here in X-notifier, I need to manually key in the security code which is an annoyance. Hope that this process can be automated where I can just check and approve the retrieved security code.

Annoyance

I'd think that's the purpose of 2-step... that there is an annoying manual intervention, that automation can't duplicate.
Otherwise, automated access would seem to me to mean a possible automated hack.
Sounds like Microsoft may have an all-Microsoft-product contained process??
For X-Notifier, can you double-click the code, right-click copy and paste? ...maybe fewer clicks than keying.

RpD,

RpD,

I think you have never used the 2-step authentication app for Microsoft? It's an app where whenever authentication is needed, I just need to check and approved the code obtained. Easy as ABC. Here in the X-Notifer, I need to approve code, manually key-in the security code then press OK where I believe one of the steps can be automated as Microsoft is doing the same.

Right

You're right. I don't use 2-step. Too much annoyance.
I'm just suggesting the Microsoft app may have access that other apps won't.
But it doesn't hurt to ask... support email is xndevel@gmail.com

Good thinking

You might be correct as I'm not sure how the app works, but I'm just thinking that if one of the steps can be further automated, I can just approve the code without having the notifier pop up and causing the box to be focused unless I enter the code or cancel.
