Actually it appears when one

Actually it appears when one is clicked it turns red when the other is clicked that one turns red and the other is kind of a mute gray. So they will alternate red on which ever the last opened account was.

Possibly fixed?

All of a sudden this morning both email accounts were bold and showed an email count and appear to be working for now anyway.

Fixed?

Yes, I was having the same problem for several days and it seems to be working now.

jeroen

6 years 8 months ago

No and yes

The same happened to me an it was not the first time.
It doesn't get the number of unread mails temporarily. So possibly it is a server maintenance issue.
I already investigated and at such a moment the dataURL returns a page that suggests a login time-out.
But login still works for me. You can verify by logging out manually an then click Check Now, which should log you back in. (Clicking the hotmail account gives you the inbox)

Found possible solution

Looking at the Network traffic I can see the Hotmail javascript doing this XHR request to the server:
https://outlook.live.com/owa/sessiondata.ashx?app=Mini

The X-notifier hotmail script's dataURL adds a different parameter and lacks the app parameter:
https://outlook.live.com/owa/sessiondata.ashx?appcacheclient=0

I will test it.

Tested

It keeps working with the new parameter app=Mini, so the old parameter might be the reason the app on the hotmail server refused to send the response now and then.

I will inform admin/tobwithu(s).

Conclusion

Tobwithu stated in his email reply that in his case app=Mail and this turned out to be the case for me too testing with Chrome and Firefox. I was testing with Opera and for some reason (not always) the Hotmail server detected my Opera browser as a mobile app: therefore app=Mini (responding with a different web page for the mobile user). So the XHR request to the server now is: https://outlook.live.com/owa/sessiondata.ashx?app=Mail
Hoping this will resolve the issue (no way to be sure, because we cannot read the code of this request handler sessaiondata.ashx) The future will tell...

In my case, Hotmail asks

In my case, Hotmail asks security related questions during login sometimes.

X-notifier cannot handle this unusual page correctly.

Once I login manually and answer this question, X-notifier works again.

Not working again

In my case, hotmail was not working, but then started working again.  I then installed the new version of X-Notifier and it continued to work, but now today (after a brownser restart) it is not working again.  I am able to log in to hotmail email fine, with no extra security quesitons or any other type of extra pages.

Yep back to not working again

Yep back to not working again. One (my main) is red other is grayed out just like before. :-/

Not only that but clicking either hotmail account I have just opens a window that attempts to load something but never does.

Email providers

Well... I think we should Yell at the email providers to stop changing the login process, eh?
That darn X-Notifier. Darn Microsoft and Apple. Darn computers. Darn electricity. Darn primordial ooze. Darn universe. Darn Big Bang. oh, then there's God, of course... right?
Sorry.
It will be fixed if and when it can, I'm sure. It's not a commercial product. It's not on a retail product schedule.
Donated lately?
Just sayin'.

Simple answer

When it would have been easy to fix, it would already been done long ago.

Don't know what the trick is

Don't know what the trick is but still not working for me. Not only that but before I could click the account and it would login automatically. Now I have to manually login on each hotmail account once I click them. I've closed and reopened FF also. Dunno. Some are lucky I guess. LOL

Troubleshoot...

I'd say there is something about your XN installation that is broken... and since clicking your accounts does not log you into your inbox, I'd start by re-entering my passwords into XN account definition.
A couple other troubleshooting steps...
You can try clearing cache and cookies.
And to isolate the situation entirely, you can try creating an additional, new user profile in Firefox and add only X-Notifier 4.2.16, add your accounts and see if they work.

Fix

One might add this fix is not about the login (is and was working), but about the dataURL fetching the unread numbers.

cexn

6 years 7 months ago

looks like ok at 21 nov

Thanks tobwithu for new version, it is working ok from Chrome with outlook/hotmail.

At 20 and 19 nov there were any errors from msn.com site when trying to login into email directly, checked from remote analizing sites too, I think it was not X-Notifier only.

  • Log in or register to post comments
  • Default check interval not work
  • Delete X-notifier account
  • Yahoo Mail not working with X-Notifier Neo
  • So X-notifier is dead now?
  • Yahoo broken :(
