Firefox 44 with XN disabled and won't install

For the longest time I have been using Cyberfox Portable.  I decided to give Firefox 44 a look.  So I copied my profile into Firefox folder and launched Firefox.  After the verification process of the addons, XN was visible and working.  I then checked the updates status and it noted that XN could not be verified, so I selected to update.  It tried to do it an update to XN, failed and then disabled it and will not start or load.

Has anyone else seen this?

No problem here after the update...

You should install X-notifier the official way from addons.mozilla.org.
So export your settings and import them again after removing X-notifier from Add-ons and reinstalling it from here:
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/xnotifier/

I have the XN installer and tried adding the file but still come up with the verification error.  Going to see if I can install with no fresh profile and see what heppens.

I am not sure if I understand you(r english) correct, but I realize my instruction could be a lot clearer. I gather though you mean you are going to install XN in a fresh Firefox profile in order to exclude possible conflicts with other installed addons.  That is indeed the only reason I can think of for still having a problem after completing this:

  1.  Go to X-notifier Options and export your list of accounts (firefox.xn).
  2. Go to Tools - Add-ons, remove X-notifier and restart Firefox.
  3. Reinstall X-notifier from:
    https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/xnotifier/
  4. Go to X-notifier Options and import your list of accounts (firefox.xn).

I am on another system and I took the same Firefox app folder and the same untouched Cybderfox profile folder, and I had no problem.  I will try again on the other system.  But at least we know it works with Firefox 44.

Thanks jeroen
