Scripts been working since last update, but seems mozilla ff like to break things with 33.0.2, and now ff 28 back level quit working,. Can xnotifier scripts be fixed i have had problems with google and yahoo scripts consistently .. Thank you..
I have FF 33.0.2 and X-Notifier 3.5 ...and multiple gmail accounts, and one Yahoo account. (I see there is an update available to go to 33.0.3.)
X-Notifier checks and find new email, and will open tabs logged into my inboxes, for both gmails and yahoo... so it looks fine to me.
Do you have multiple gmails and multiple yahoo email addresses defined in X-Notifier?
I would try right-clicking the X-Notifier envelope icon, and then clicking the problem account(s) to see if it will open a new tab and log you into the inbox automatically. If not, it may be a password problem when you defined account in X-Notifier. - Also check for any odd prompts for (whatever) that might be interfering. You might need to open a new tab, manually... then type in webmail address to go to the login page, then log into your account to check for any interference.
After that, you could delete the account from X-Notifier... restart the browser ...and redefine the account(s). Occasionally, settings get corrupted, or updates don't install perfectly.
Works under safari not yet with ff 33.0.3, mac osx 10.10,, I have a issues with mozilla seems firefox which used to be a reliable browser has now become a problem, the calander in google no longer works, when you try to switch to another tab ff complains about cookies, access is impossible. So i removed ff completely and stayed with Safari, its close source that would mean it has not tampered or broken .. Does any one of Mozilla attempting NOT to fix issues to force to google chrome, which is a waste for Mac users...
Had xnotifier update just a day ago and now yahoo won't log in, and yes I have the 33.0.3 update applied to FF. I can log in manually to yahoo, just not through X-Notifier..and yes cleared cache etc.. trying to see if it would help. Even tried a fresh profile and still no go. One thing I do have yahoo mail set to the old mail through settings (which is getting increasinly difficult to do) as I do not like new yahoo mail. But even when I tried on her computer using her yahoo mail which is the new one, it wouldn't work
There is a problem RpD and I cannot figure it out yet. I have 5 Yahoo accounts and have been having a problem with only 2 of them. If I click on the mail manually, one account logs in fone but the other prompts for a password. Both accounts are greyed out. Been playing with this for a few days and can't figure it out.
I am using Cyberfox 3302 both 32 and 64 bit and have the latest XN updated a day or so ago v3.5
I sometimes have temperamental accounts, but usually that's more in Chrome than Mozilla. You could open the problem accounts in another browser (or new profile/new X-N install), just to ensure it's a 'clean' login.
Sometimes persistence pays off... tedious as it is, but it just could be a Yahoo oddity/change that the current script doesn't catch. I'm off to install 33.0.3.
I recently updated to Firefox 33.0.3. Now, I can no longer get my X-Notifier Window to appear on my desktop. It shows an icon (saying X-Notifier is open) at the bottom left of my screen when I open Firefox, but when I highlight it, it shows a white screen and when I click on it, nothing happens. When I right click on the icon at the top of my screen, I can see where I "used" to be able to put a check mark next to window or sidebar to get it to open automatically. I can no longer put a checkmark at either. When I click on sidebar, the sidebar opens, but no check mark remains. Nothing happens when I click on window. I tried uninstalling X-Notifier and reinstalling to no avail. I think something Firefox did in it's new update has caused this, but I don't know if there is anything I can do to fix it or if i have to just deal with it for now. I appreciate any help given to me... Thank you.
This problem is not really about the script so you should post it in a new topic.
Other than that, I have little to suggest except to do an uninstall AND then make sure all the extension folder/files are removed.I'm running FF 33.0.3 and X-Notifier 3.5 and I have no problem opening the X-Notifier sidebar or window.
After doing the uninstall of the extension, go to Windows Explorer and look for...
I just used my x86 version of Cyberfox (firefox clone) and I can log into the Yahoo account I have a problem with. Only difference is I am now on v33.0.3 and the other system is using 33.0.2. I will have another look on my prob the culpritlem system and see if I can find the culprit.
Well it is not a version number as I upgraded 2 systems to 33.0.3 and only one still has the problem. Both systems are running portable versions, so I will try and figure out what is going on with Yahoo before I copy the configuration from the good system to the bad system.
I just checked my other 64bit system and the new script did not fix the problem. I will keep playing with this before I restore configuration file from working system.
Had the same problem after upgrading to FF 33. Interestingly, Yahoo.com (along with ymail and rocketmail) was not working, but Yahoo.co.jp still worked fine. As recommended, I cleared my cache, removed all Yahoo.com (and ymail, rocketmail) cookies, restarted FF, and now Yahoo is working fine again.
In my case, since I am runnign a protable, all my cookies and cache are cleared each time I exit the browser.
Yahoo is doing something since as of last night, after fixing the problem account by overwriting the config setings from the working system, a diffeent account is now experiencing the same problem.
Perhaps tomtinker has nailed the fix... clearing cache, cookies. (I keep forgetting that.)
My installation continues to work for single Yahoo account on the 'new' mail, FF 33.0.3, X-Notifier 3.5.1 ...without having to clear anything. (lucky me) :)
Just FYI. Although this fix worked for Yahoo, and it worked for AOL a couple of weeks ago, I have other accounts this procedure doesn't seem to help. LinkedIn and MySpace are two which are now not working, and this fix didn't help. One each of my two Twitter and Mixi accounts don't work either - one Twitter works and the other doesn't. Likewise for Mixi. This procedure didn't help for those either. But I've given up on those. Just hoping they'll get fixed in an upgrade in the near future...
Only two thing I can think of... 1) clear cookies and caches and 2) Manually check Mixi website to "confirm" such as change policy/rules, before Mixi able to work with X-notifier again.
Regard to Yahoo... it works fine... THANK YOU (Tobwithu)
Thanks, CFBancroft
EDIT/UPDATE regard to Mixi.
I did test all CH, OP, SM, TB and FF all works FINE....
EXCEPT SAFARI with Mixi do NOT works! I did save LOG and send Tobwithu for his review...I hope update scripts for Safari to work with Mixi.
The loggin problems were fixed by following Tobwithu's advice --> delete cache and yahoo cookies. The hardest part was setting my mind to performing the steps, since they were few and easy.
My history settings include automatically clearing the Firefox cache when exiting Firefox. So that was easiest.
For deleting yahoo cookies: Tools > Options > Privacy > Show Cookies > Search (yahoo) > select all and Delete. Duh.
Don't curse the darkness, light a candle. Thanks, Tobwithu.
Yahoo is doing some changes. I have been deletign cookies daily on 3 systems for 2-3 Yahoo accounts. Cokies get deleted when I shut down, but I found if the accounts don't login, I delete the cookies and then check for mail and it works again.
On computer #1, a few days ago, two out of four of my Yahoo accounts wouldn't log in. I deleted cache and yahoo-cookies, and then they logged in OK, even after restarting.
On computer #2 this evening, the same two accounts wouldn't log in. I tried deleting the cache and yahoo-cookies, but it didn't work, which was annoying. It worked on computer #1, but I couldn't get X-notifier to log into those two, troublesome accounts on computer #2.
Just to experiment, I went back to Computer #1 this evening (where X-notifier was still working) and deleted the yahoo-cookies. Now, those two accounts won't log in, again.
And the lesson is, if you have any Yahoo-cookies that are working with X-notifier, don't delete them.
So, I browsed to the mail.yahoo page to log in manually, and found there's a CAPTCHA-from-Hell (with a psychadelic, moving background) that needs to be answered at the same time as filling in the password. Every time I restart Firefox, I have to go through the CAPTCHA, along with entering my password.
That stinks. I don't think X-notifier is going to be able to automatically do a CAPTCHA test for me.
I just went into Firefox > History, clicked on the troublesome Yahoo webmail page, and it came up, no loggin required. Apparently, my Yahoo-cookies have lasted this long. Then I checked X-notifier, but it still was never able to check that Yahoo account. I was able to easy-click open the webmail page, but X-notifier wasn't able to check the account. I don't understand that.
Yahoo's CAPTCHA strategy is interesting, but not too useful. If a robot figures out your password, it would still need to answer the CAPTCHA. I don't know, but if I were a password-buster, I would beep to alert the human-user that I broke the password but I still need him to do the CAPTCHA to complete the illegal loggin. If I were nefarious, would I be annoyed with Yahoo that they were making me have to do a CAPTCHA for every password I busted?
Meanwhile, everyone who's not a criminal has to do an extra CAPTCHA test.
I think if I have a strong password, I should have the option of avoiding the CAPTCHA. Otherwise, this is going to be tough for X-notifier.
Where's the new technology that eliminates this whole password-procedure?
X-Notifier cookies are separate from FF/webpage login cookies.
Captcha's can be foisted on a person due to Yahoo's assessment of unusual activity on an account, like sending lots of email, whatever. It's not necessarily permanent. Do you have mail checking set to a high (frequent) rate?
Check if you can login manually in your browser without any unusual messages. (Open new tab, type webmail address of your email provider, and login... look for any prompts or notices that might pop-up and interfere, answer them.)
Clear cookies and caches of your browser.
If you use Firefox, please check if your password is correct in Firefox's password manager.... AGAIN.
Delete you non-working account, Restart your browser, and Redefine the account.... again.
Once again a problem with yahoo. I think it is the login process at Yahoo's end. Ever since they always ask you to change the password, and then for your phone number there has been a problem. Needs a script that 'clicks' the 'Skip This' link on these two pages.
However, the last 2weeks it has been fine and today it couldn't access either my y7mail(Yahoo7) or my yahoo.com.au.
Hi, Even opening a new Firefox profile, with no addons enabled and renewed password,I cannot get into my UK Yahoo mail on either Linux or Windows 7 on 3 different computers. I know from the second link I previously posted that it is not only me experiencing this problem so this indicates to me that it is probably not an "x notifier" problem,at least UK wise.
Cable Cut: having personal experience of cable ships sadly a fix for a damaged cable is not as simple as calling the local AA. Firstly,is a cable ship available for charter and how far away is it ,nearest could be thousands of miles away. Next having brought a ship to the area what is the local weather like;conditions may make it impossible for the ship to work sometimes for a week or more and sometimes they have to discontinue work because of oncoming bad weather. Actually finding the cable and where the actual damage is made more difficult by the depth of water obviously. Having found and successfully picked up the cable, part of it may have to be cut out and replaced. I assure you unfortunately, sophisticated though these ships and their gear may be nowadays,it is not unknown to have to returnn to a "repaired" cable, Regards, weg43.
Oh... Gosh. And I thought I edited out the part about calling the AA.
Rather than believe in difficulties, I choose to believe they're competent enough to figure the logistics of traversing a ship there, esp. when releasing a public statement and only a couple days in advance... esp. as one was in the vicinity, having done the damage. It's a mighty choice... go on to the next scheduled job and let insurance pay/raise rates, or delay and return to fix the major liability for the damage done. Whatever. Internet access is usually a web array and not a single line of communication. Oops, cable done broke, hang up the phone boys.
Well my Friend RpD, you are a more trusting soul than I am if you believe in statements interenet companies, media and yes governments put out nowadays, especially in view of quite recent revelations, I wish you a happy Festive Season and New Year.

Yahoo is failing again. I
Yahoo is failing again. I have noticed it in the past few days. Deleting Yahoo cookies seems to fix it temporarily.
