To hide X-Notifier statusbar icon X-notifier options -> General -> Uncheck 'Show statusbar icon'
Note: The X-Notifier statusbar icon, at bottom of Firefox window, is different from the main X-Notifier icon that is shown in toolbars at top of window.
To hide X-Notifier Toolbar
Mac user: Firefox menu -> View -> Toolbars -> Uncheck 'X-notifier Toolbar'
Windows: Using the Firefox 'classic' menubar: View -> Toolbars -> Uncheck 'X-notifier Toolbar') Using the new, orange "Firefox" menu button: Click "Firebox" button -> (hover over) Options -> Uncheck 'X-notifier Toolbar' Note: In Windows, newer installations of Firefox replace the 'classic' menu bar with an orange 'Firefox' button. You can show the 'classic' menu bar instead of the orange button... just as you can show/hide the X-Notifier Toolbar. To toggle between the 'classic' menubar and the 'orange button'... just choose to show/hide the 'Menu Bar'.
You can not add POP3/IMAP in Chrome/Safari/Opera. There is no APIs for it in Chrome/Safari/Opera.
There is/are NO ETA for POP/IMAP 'drop down' CH/SF/OP on X-notifier!
Because CH/SF/OP maker do not allowed built in API. You need to contact browser maker, 'make your voice heard' to add feature on their software, before Tobwithu can make POP/IMAP 'drop down' in their software. Therefore ETA depend on CH/SF/OP to available API in their software.
ETA = Estimated Time Available
jeroen's explain An API (Application Programming Interface) is software developed for a specific software product. It enables to communicate and/or build upon (expand) such a software product. So Mozilla developed an API to accomodate independant add-on developers for the Mozilla Firefox product.

You (X-notifier user) can make a request for a custom script for the email provider (rather than use POP3/IMAP).
X-Notifier user asked: I noticed that there is a red mark crossed on the lower rightside of my X-notifier icon. Anyone know why it is there and or how to get rid of it?
Tobwithu's answer: It means you disabled periodic check. Right click on X-notifier icon and check ‘Enable’.
With X-Notifier disabled and starting Firefox is X-Notifier supposed to check for email? I would think it should not.
Since the item above does not work as I would expect if I have X-Notifier disabled is it for sure does not check any email accounts?
Offer an option to time-delay the first email check. If x-notifier waited 10seconds until Firefox loaded, I would be happy. If I could set it longer, it would be even better.
RpD's answer:
It appears, to me, that UNchecking the ‘Enable’ item… simply stops X-Notifier from checking based on the interval set in X-Notifier ‘Options’ … and … it does not disable ‘Check on startup’ in X-Notifier ‘Options’.
So you may need to UNcheck “Check on startup”, if you want that disabled also.
UNchecking “Enable” is just a way to stop auto-checking… not the ‘Check on startup’ option.
Also explain more... In Mozilla versions (Firefox/Sea Monkey/Thunderbird), if we right-click the X-Notifier envelope icon... There is an 'Enable' menu selection that can be clicked to checkmark it Enabled, or UNcheckmark it Disabled... Which quickly turns off all checking for the extension without disabling the entire extension.
Probably Safari does not have this, sharing features with Chrome/Opera version, I believe... Chrome does not have an 'Enable' item on X-Notifier pop-up menu.
