Hotmail Script serving X-notifier 3.x for Firefox

Forums
X-notifier 3.x for Firefox (deprecated)

You can download it here: Hotmail Script
(Left click and download by selecting Download from the Open dropdown at top-right next to the blue Share button/dropdown)

Just add it as external script. It will automatically replace the included script with the same name.
(Reloaded users can do the same, in case the included script didn't reach the Reloaded release yet)

Time to say goodbye

Forums
X-notifier 3.x for Firefox (deprecated)

Thank you for the beautiful years with x-notifier. But it is time to move forward ....

I have found my external x-notifier alternative: MailCheck 2 (http://www.d-jan.de/mailcheck.shtml)
Available languages: german and english

Perhaps also an alternative for others

I will continue to pursue the development here.

Yahoo script serving X-notifier 3.x for Firefox

Forums
X-notifier 3.x for Firefox (deprecated)

So, I managed to convert vs 4.1.3 back to vs 3 and make it work for both my yahoo.com accounts (Classic / New Yahoo inteface). It involved re-implementing the cookieManager code of vs 3, because cookie handling in vs 4 is implemented differently: by calling the new XN4's function setCookies of XN4's Handler script.

You can download the adapted script from Dropbox:  Yahoo Script
(Left click and download thru the button that will appear at top-right next to the Share button)

Just add it as external script. It will automatically replace the included script with the same name.

NB: I still have to implement the 2-step verification.
Only tested for yahoo.com accounts, so can somebody test for yahoo.co.jp?

Can't install version 4.0.3 -corrupt-

Forums
X-notifier 3.x for Firefox (deprecated)

Hello:

I'm using 3.5.23 version (no Yahoo accounst check anymore), When trying to update the add on manually (downloaded from the website) it says: "This Add on could not be installed because it appears to be corrupt".

Should I stay on 3.5.xx version or update to 4.xx version. Actually have 4 yahoo email accounts, 1 Hotmail, 1 Laposte.net

Any help or idea is welcome

Modified scripts: Gmail, Yahoo, Hotmail/etc., LinkedIn for X-Notifier 3.x for Firefox

Forums
X-notifier 3.x for Firefox (deprecated)

[Updated 11/27/2017 ...correctly, I hope. (Scroll to bottom for notes on XN 4.1.7, Chrome, Safari)]

First... Note that X-Notifier 3.x will only work with Firefox up to version 56...
(and then perhaps for another year with the Extended Service Release (ESR) of FF 52.5.0.
See: https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/organizations).
Mozilla has said that they will [block the installation of legacy] addons beginning with FF 57.  Until then...

HOTMAIL/OUTLOOK.COM/LIVE.COM/Etc
- Jeroen updated a Hotmail/Outlook.com/etc script:
See Jeroen's post: http://xnotifier.tobwithu.com/dp/comment/12816#comment-12816
Note: Click his post's link to go to Dropbox, then click the DOWNLOAD button, upper right corner.

GMAIL
- For the updated custom Gmail script, go to the following post by "JustOff" (linked below) and then right-click -his- link, then click 'Save link as...' and change the 'File name' (from b11a0503.txt) to:  gmail.js   ...then click Save.  Next, go to X-Notifier, Options, click the "Scripts" button, and 'Add' that new gmail.js script... then click 'OK', and close Options by clicking 'OK'.  Lastly, close Firefox (to clear memory/settings), and re-open it.  That's all.

Originally JustOff's (now 'hosted' by Jeroen): http://bit.ly/2Bs6zn7   ...(use the Download button there)

YAHOO
- Jeroen excised the Yahoo script from X-Notifier 4.x and make it work for X-Notifier 3.x.
See Jeroen's post... http://xnotifier.tobwithu.com/dp/node/3601 ...for the working Yahoo script.
Note: Click his post's link to go to Dropbox, then click the DOWNLOAD button, upper right corner. ]

IMAP for Yahoo:
- For a Yahoo IMAP fix, the workaround is to redefine Yahoo accounts using the IMAP script (instead of the old Yahoo script)... but it was necessary to fix X-Notifier's embedded IMAP script (to work with the 'new' Yahoo Mail that is being rolled out slowly to everyone), so... Jeroen modified the existing IMAP script, and you can add it just like any other custom script.  (Note: clicking your IMAP defined account does not log you into your inbox, but you can add a Link entry to go there, or at least to the webmail login page. Also there is no custom icon for IMAP defined accounts, but you can add one... see http://xnotifier.tobwithu.com/dp/node/481).

Before or After saving and adding the custom IMAP script, you will need to change one of your Yahoo account settings to allow IMAP access, and then define your Yahoo account in X-Notifier using the new IMAP script. So...

- First, in Firefox, go to: https://login.yahoo.com/account/security#other-apps

...and scroll down the webpage, and turn 'on' the slider (to the right) to "Allow apps that use less secure sign in" ...then close your account tab. (The setting is saved as soon as you change it.)

- Then, go to the following post by Jeroen (linked below), and left-click -his- link, which opens a Dropbox webpage with the script and a 'Download' button in the upper right corner... (ignore 'Sign in'). Click the 'Download' button, click 'Direct download' and save the imap.js file to your computer... then close the Dropbox tab.  Next, go to X-Notifier, Options, click the "Scripts" button, and 'Add' that new imap.js script... then click 'OK', and close Options by clicking 'OK'.  Lastly, close Firefox (in order to start fresh with new script, clean settings/memory).

See Jeroen's post: http://xnotifier.tobwithu.com/dp/comment/12351#comment-12351

- Finally, re-open Firefox, and define your Yahoo account in X-Notifier, using the IMAP script...

Go to X-Notifier, Options... then click the box to the left of the "Scripts" button (it should be labeled 'Gmail'), and select IMAP from the drop-down list of installed scripts. Then...

...fill in your usual username and password, and for "Server", enter:

imap.mail.yahoo.com

...and for "Link", enter:

https://mg.mail.yahoo.com/neo/launch

...and lastly, click the "Add" button, and then "OK".

If that IMAP account definition works for you, you may want to either UNcheckmark (disable) the Yahoo accounts previously defined using the embedded Yahoo script, or highlight them and Delete.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

X-NOTIFIER 4.1.7
In the Firefox version, X-Notifier 4.1.7, Gmail and Yahoo should be working...
...in version 4.x, the available scripts are limited to only what is embedded in the program... there is no adding of custom scripts by users.

CHROME browser's version of X-Notifier, also 4.1.7, still supports custom scripts.

SAFARI users can also get X-Notifier 4.1 for Safari, which supports custom scripts.
http://xnotifier.tobwithu.com/downloads/sf/xnotifier4.1.safariextz
If you have trouble upgrading to 4.0.3... you might try Exporting your accounts (go to X-Notifier, Options), then UNinstall X-Notifier, and finally... again try to install 4.1, but select "Install from developer" ...and after it's properly installed, Import your accounts.

Missing Accounts

Forums
X-notifier 3.x for Firefox (deprecated)

I am new here and hope someone can help me out.  I read some posts here about version 4.0.3, mainly the method of importing your accounts.

My problem is that I was on version 3.5.23 and I had the following accounts

Gmail, Hotmail, GMX and Zoho

I followed the instructions on exporting, then insall version 4.0.3 and then importing, but my GMX and Zoho accounts did not

I believe I followed the instructions correctly but may be I missed something or may be version 4.0.3 will not allow GMX or Zoho.  I understand the dev has a lot on their plate, but if anyone else can help it would be greatly appreciated.

yahoo icon reappears, but mail still not checked

Forums
X-notifier 3.x for Firefox (deprecated)

After it disappeared quite a while ago the Yahoo icon has reappeared next to Yahoo when the x-notifier is opened, but x-notifier does not poll the Yahoo mail inbox. This happened today in Firefox, Chrome and Opera. In all if I click on  Yahoo when I open x-notifier it opens the inbox. When can we expect that the normal service of also polling the Yahoo mail inbox that was a feature of x-notifier for many years will resume ?

Yahoo is not working from july 4, 2017

Forums
X-notifier 3.x for Firefox (deprecated)

Hi tobwithu

I know that Google does not work anymore in X-notifier (only in X-notifier Neo which is cumbersome). I installed Neo only for that account,  but now also Yahoo is not working anymore, only Outlook does. I used this good application for many years with my accounts in Google, Yahoo and Hotmail/Outlook. But I only see problems from now and into the future. Is it possible to review what is happening and restore the X-notifier for all the webmails? or all the providers are blocking everything in webmail?

Many thanks for your work.

IMAP

Forums
X-notifier 3.x for Firefox (deprecated)

Has anybody seen the behavior where it counts the first unread as 2, and counts properly from there? ie it never shows 1. This is on Yahoo IMAP.

X-notifier 4.0.3, clic en icono muestra solo recuadro en blanco ¿? (Solved)

Forums
X-notifier 3.x for Firefox (deprecated)

Hola,

Muchas gracias.

PD: Tengo Firefox 53.0.3 (x32) en Windows 7 (x64)
