Use multiple login

No problem here (Firefox 37.0.2).
Do you have 'Use multiple login' and 'Keep session for links' checked in Options?

There is a problem

Firefox 38 broke this.  You have to close the tab and click on the other account to login properly

Firefox 38

Yes, there seem to be some significant changes for add-on developers in Firefox 38:
https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/Firefox/Releases/38

But I gather you are (like me) still on version 37, Alic73?

Chrome

@Alic73: The developer is working on version 3.5.7 for Chrome (and Safari and Opera). So you can expect the solution shortly, if not one of these days.

Still broken in FF38.0.1

I just installed v38.0.1 over 38.0.0 and Gmail is still broken.....I was hoping that the update would have fixed it.

Agree with asdasd

I am having the same problems that "asdasd" describes in the original posting.  Since Firefox 38.0, I cannot open one gmail account in the same tab as another.

On top of that, I have had the "You have been signed out of this account" problem on and off for the past year or more.  It is very annoying to be signed into one gmail account, and then have a dialog pop up telling me that I am signed out.

I hope these issues can be fixed, because I really want to love X-notifier.  As it stands right now, it has become a very annoying add-on.

Multiple accounts

If you have multiple accounts with one provider, the best way to open one of those accounts is to (Firefox) right-click the X-Notifier envelope icon to get the drop-down list of accounts and then click your account there. (With Chrome, you just left-click the X-Notifier envelope icon.)
-  That way, X-Notifier knows the tabs contexts, and when X-Notifier checks accounts for new email... it shoudn't kick you out of a tab/account.

It's broken RpD.  Since FF38

It's broken RpD.  Since FF38.x, you can't just click on the account and expect it to open on top of the existing window.  My workaround is to close the current GMAIL window and then click on the other account.  But I have also been seeing blank NEW TAB pages when clicking on the XN envelope.

Well...

It's broken perhaps for some people, but it seems to be working for me.

I just upgraded to FF 38.0.1, and I opened my three gmail accounts from the X-Notifier drop-down account list... all three accounts are open in separate tabs (two of them underlined to show session context or whatever)... I did a couple X-Notifier "Check Now" clicks and I still have all three accounts open in their own inbox.  I did see the tabs show "Connecting..." several times, but the tab window didn't change.

My X-Notifier Options global settings are having all the following checkmarked:  'Enable auto login', 'Auto login default account', 'Use multiple login', and 'Keep session for links'.

I should also note that I don't use 2-factor authentication or much of anything other than the default settings on my gmail accounts.

That's all I can say about the situation until and unless FF or Gmail rolls out some change to me, that others already have, which breaks their accounts/tabs.  Until then, mine are working fine... and I can only suggest checkmarking all those options I listed, plus whenever  you want to open a Gmail account, go to the X-Notifier drop-down account list and click the account there, to open it.

[Edit: It just occurred to me that if a FF update to 38.x resulted in problems... I might uninstall X-Notifier, then uninstall FF and re-install it... then X-Notifier.  Just a suggestion... not sure about that. I guess one could try a new profile too.
FF Sync might help retain your settings and addons through that uinstall/reinstall process... hopefully it would -not- retain the problem with X-Notifier... otherwise... you might sync after you uninstall X-Notifier and resync after reinstalling everything. Hard to say... too many variables.]

Good luck, all.

"left sidebar"

I enabled my (View, Sidebar,) X-Notifier sidebar... and opened my three accounts from there.  My X-Notifier Options settings (mentioned above) still open my three accounts in three different tabs and regardless of how often I 'Check Now' or let the X-Notifier checking interval cause a check for new email... my tabs remain assigned to the accounts I opened... and I'm not getting signed out.

I'm not bragging or disputing/arguing or whatever... just noting that FF 38.xx and X-Notifier (3.5.7) work for me... so far.

Quite some time ago... when I was having trouble keeping an account from switching or being confused in a single tab... when I had several of the accounts from the same provider, and using the same script to check all of them via X-Notifier...
...the developer explained to me that I had to open each account (from same provider) through X-Notifier... to keep the accounts from getting confused, or signed out, or whatever.  So I set the settings as mentioned above for multiple accounts/sessions, etc... and always open my account via the X-Notifier drop-down menu... and virtually -never- have a problem with them.

I only mention that ...in case people are opening their accounts manually (opening a tab and typing in webmail address) or some other way (like logging out of an account that you opened from X-Notifier, and then logging into another account using that same tab ...no-no!)... instead of going through X-Notifier each time to open each account always in a new tab.
- And so I just tested the sidebar and don't see any difference from there either... yet; it works fine for me.  I don't manually open tabs and then go to gmail either... I use the X-Notifier account list to open accounts.

Maybe someone could try checkmarking:  'Enable auto login', 'Auto login default account', 'Use multiple login', and 'Keep session for links'... and then opening each of their accounts from the X-Notifier sidebar or the X-Notifier drop-down menu... and see if that accomplishes the stability they need.

Otherwise, you might use different scripts... for each account from a single provider.  Like the custom Gmail script for one Gmail, POP3 for another Gmail, IMAP for another Gmail.   Just some ideas to try...

Perhaps the developer -can- offer some kind of fix though... if you describe the problem well enough to him at xndevel@gmail.com  ...but he may refer you back to the 'use multiple login' settings, etc., as I've described above.

Just pointing out what works for me.
Good luck.

Temporary?

Another user... Vin100 ...suggests disabling X-Notifier, clearing cache/etc., closing FF ...restarting FF, and enabling X-Notifier.  And that worked for him.  But as Tr3b has pointed out previously... that may be only a temporary fix.

Try this....

I'm not absolutely sure about this, but believe to have fixed my facebook account in Firefox by reconfigurating 'Use multiple login', and 'Keep session for links'. It seemed not to resemble the about:config variables.

To try this, go to X-notifier Options and uncheck those checkboxes. Then click Ok.
Go back in and check them again (and click Ok).
Instead you might just check whether your about:config variables resemble your X-notifier Options settings. (I didn't and therefore am not sure this is what did it for me)

Single tab problems

@RpD, you are not understanding what people are reporting.

Since Firefox 38.0, Xnotifier will not switch Gmail accounts within the SAME TAB.  Yes, it works if you configure Xnotifier to open each Gmail account in a different tab.  For those of us who configured Xnotifier to use a single tab, so that only one Gmail account can be open at a time, it is definitely NOT working.

So...

Auuughhhh!  I am corrected!!
I guess that means you all do NOT check 'Use multiple login'.
( Someone might have said so earlier... ;-s )
I like my accts/tabs separate.

But... Tobwithu has released a new 3.5.8 for you single-tabbers.

Still having account logout problems

Hi tobwithu,

Version 3.5.8 (and 3.5.8.1)  has restored the ability to manage all of my gmail accounts within a single tab.

However, I continue to receive these sporadic "You have been signed out of this account" messages.  I then need to remove all "google.com" cookies, and restart Firefox.  Then things will be fine for a while, but eventually, I will get logged out of one of my gmail accounts.

This behavior is very annoying, and I am hoping that you can figure out why it is occurring, and come up with a solution.
