FireFox 24.0 and X-notifier

By jocee , 22 October 2013

Ever since I up dated to FF24.0 only one of my accounts will load in my add on tool bar. I have to close and reload FF. Anyone have any idea why this is happeneing and how to fix it. For the moment I rolled back to the previous version of FF as it works just fine with x-notifier.

Troubleshoot

I have quite a few accounts and FF 24, X-Notifier 3.3.8 ...I enabled the X-Notifier toolbar and restarted and have no problem with lots of accounts showing on the toolbar, so...

Seems like a glitch in your system... (is your X-Notifier updated to 3.3.8?)  ...otherwise, you might try Exporting your accounts (from X-Notifier "Options"), then uninstall X-Notifier, restart browser, re-install X-Notifier from latest version... and Import your accounts.

Troubleshoot, I did all that

Troubleshoot, I did all that already. If I role back to an earlier of FF I have no problem. Theonly way around it in FF24. is to load and then reload anew window, then they all show.' Any other ideals welcome.

Other ideas

Besides clearing cache/cookies and restarting... you could disable all add-ons, restart FF, then enable -just- X-Notifier... to see if there's a conflict between add-ons.  If X-Notifier's toolbar suddenly works, then re-enable other add-ons one at a time... and restart FF each time.

Uhhhh

The idea is to test EACH add-on for conflict with X-Notifier... IN A FRESH FF USER PROFILE,  you install X-Notifier BY ITSELF, and see if it works.... IF SO, then you enable one other add-on, and restart FF... to see if there's a problem/conflict between your other add-ons and X-Notifier... so then if the first extra add-on works ok with X-Notifier... you enable another add-on, and YES, restart FF to see if there's a problem with the second extra add-on, ETC.   You do that until you find an add-on that conflicts with x-notifier, IF ANY... and then you decide between x-notifier and that other conflicting add-on.   It's called "isolating the problem"... one at a time.   All this is based on IF... IF X-Notifier, BY ITSELF, works fine for you IN A FRESH PROFILE.

I understand isolating, but

I understand isolating, but if I have all the exact same add ons when I use FF 24.o with no problem as when I upgraded  FF. The only thing that changed is FF.................................

If you don't try it, you won't know

FF profiles can get corrupted, add-on installs can get corrupted.

The rest of us have no problem whatsoever with FF 24.  So, since the forum isn't floodedwith irate FF 24 users... one begins to suspect an anomaly on your setup.

If you WON'T try troubleshooting steps, then  you haven't eliminated that situation.
A friend of mine lost something... I suggested he check his pockets.
He insisted he DID check his pockets.
Where did he eventually find the lost item?
In his pocket.

A fresh FF profile would eliminate a corrupted install or corrupted base.
Then you can know if it's something corrupted in your current profile.... or not.
And some people let FF auto-update addons as well as FF itself, so they can't know what's changed and what's not.

But, whatever... it was just a suggestion.
The toolbar is working... as far as the rest of us know.
