Gmail Login change

By lucid , 16 October 2013

Google seem to have changed their login screen and method from what it looks like today, and x-notifier no longer works for Gmail.
Using Windows 7 Home premium with firefox 24.0. This is a google issue i'm sure not firefox as it was working yesterday on the same version of Firefox.

All of my accounts have

All of my accounts have logged in this AM.  Are you running latest of XN?

Can't see any problem here

Me too.  Win 7 Home, Firefox 24.0, and X-n 3.3.6 (see version in Add-ons page).

X-n isn't having any problem on my 5 google accounts.

I haven't looked at google's loggin page (in years).  Possible that you're confusing X-n's auto-logging features by going to google's loggin page.  Google's loggin page is a real bad habit.  Let X-n do the Loggins for you.

<joke> And the Mesinna's. </joke>

In X-notifier Options > Account, I have"Enable auto login" checked.  I just checked the other three checkboxes also.  Maximize the conveniences that are offered.  (I'm not sure who un-checked my other three checkboxes...)

Best luck,

-n-

Possibly....

Maybe it's slow rollout of a login change.

@ lucid:  Is your email address a generic @gmail.com type?  or another domain?

Gmail Login change

Gmail has changed the login process.

6 gmail accounts no longer sign-in or auto check, 1 Hotmail account still works fine.

I'm running the latest X-notifier v3.3.6.
Debian Linux, Mepis 32bit, Iceweasel 24

Log file sent to your email account, as per instructions from this page;
"When X-notifier does not work with your account"
http://xnotifier.tobwithu.com/dp/node/4

Hope you're are not using X-notifier to check your acc for new mail ;-)

 Cheers

Gmail change has been coming for some time

4 gmail accounts no longer sign-in or auto check, 1 pop account works no problem.

running  X-notifier v3.3.6.

Windows 7 Ultimate (32bit) Plaemoon 24.0.2

This is not a browser related problem, I repeat not browser. Gmail have been restructering their site for over a month now. Probably to do just this, prevent third party apps from logging into their accounts.

Installed X-notifier in Google chrome and ran, same problem would not check gmail accounts.

Will have to wait until x-notifier update, I hope they can fix!!

Still NEVER auto checks. Is

Still NEVER auto checks. Is not compatible with new google tabs and now it checks 2 google accounts, but not the third.
Logging in to forums is lame and finding versions is near impossible, did FINALLY find the HIDDEN version number but claims no update available.
MOZ claims 3.36 / XNs homepage claims 3.3a

Well...

There's only one place that's somewhat "HIDDEN" about the version number.
Go to the Mozilla add-ons page and the version number is right there to the side of 'About this add-on'.
Go to Firefox's menu, Add-ons... and the version number blasts you in the face.
But... if you go to the xnotifier.tobwith.com page, then you have to click the Firefox button, and 'allow' the install to see the "Software Installation" window that shows the name of the X-Notifier add-on (complete with version number).

What's so lame about using a forum to find fixes?  A large number of softwares use forums for fixes and the latest releases.
There is some validity to getting some (forum) user feedback on fixed/new versions before releasing them to the regular updates locations. That's probably why FF didn't find an update.

Regarding tabs, there is this user-generated help on how to use the embedded option for categories...
http://xnotifier.tobwithu.com/dp/node/584

Lastly... it does happen that account definitions or Firefox user profiles can get corrupted, such that some accounts work and some don't.  Sometimes it helps to delete the non-working account, restart the browser, and re-add the account, other times... one can create a new FF user profile, add X-Notifier, define the account, and see if it works there... if so, then something glitched in your existing account.   It's good, once you have all your accounts working... to Export (backup) the accounts ...so you can import them later, if there's trouble.

I just find it odd that people seeking help come in... shooting from the hip ...but, whatever.
It works out, eventually... one way or the other.  X-Notifier is a well-supported add-on.

@CFBancroft

The home page http://xnotifier.tobwithu.com/dp/ is just showing 4 News posts. Your remark regarding ...ff/xnotifier3.3a.xpi is invalid and confusing. It is from tobwithu's 2nd last News post Please test X-notifier 3.3a. When you scroll down you will see another News post with a link for ...ff/xnotifier3.2a.xpi.

The green Firefox install button links correctly to:
http://xnotifier.tobwithu.com/files/ff/latest.php.
