can't handle one/multiple gmx.fr accounts

By motus9595 , 14 September 2013

Hi

I am a new gmx e-mail user, and have transfered all my old hotmail/live and yahoo accounts there.

I now have 5 gmx.fr acccounts, and none of them will work (either checked separately  or altogether) with x-notifier, although I have used the following script :

GMX.COM

 2012-12-03

   gmx.com
   gmx.fr    tobwithu

it keeps returning this error msg :

GMX servername

Looking at the gmx.com script it is clear to me you had to supply the gmx servername in XN's Options window. The error message suggests to me you entered pop.gmx.com. The script adds 'www.' resulting in www.pop.gmx.com. Removing the 'pop.' from the servername you entered in XN's Options of your account configurations should solve your problem (just enter gmx.com as server, which will result in www.gmx.com).

thanks but.....

Hi Jeroen and thanks for the quick answer

I did as you said but it didn't change a thing... same error msg :

"Firefox ne peut trouver le serveur à l'adresse www.pop.gmx.com."

guess something with server name is coded within the script itself... how can I easily edit it or have it edited by some more skilled person?

POP3

pop.gmx.com is the GMX POP3 server. You use it for configuring your mail client like MS Outlook (Express), when you want your mail to be removed from the server when it gets downloaded to your mail client. The script does not add de 'pop' part in the servername. I checked it.

I find it hard to believe the script is at fault here, because there are no other users complaining. Did you check whether the 'pop' part actually was removed, when rechecking your XN Options? You might have to remove your present XN config, click OK and then return to the Options window and fill it in fresh (the servername might only be added at first entry).
Also: You have to fill in your complete username like yourname@gmx.fr.

When all of this doesn't help, follow this post to adress admin:

YES in fact I had created a

YES in fact I had created a new account with the address you said without pop, and of course filled out my complete username and of course correct pw... as regards outlook I never used it and would not say what it looks like

I did all again, with one and then with two gmx accounts (previously closed sessions), after I sent a trial mail to each other,  I can't say if notifier checked for real, but I can assert that

1/ it didn't notice the incoming e-mail of any account

2/ it didn't allow auto opening of any gmx account page

while it  did notice and allowed opening of gmail page

Follow the guidelines from the post I mentioned.

Very odd

Almost sounds like a corruption... maybe motus9595 should delete the gmx script and redownload/re-add it.
Just a thought.

Cached data

I am guessing the "Firefox ne peut trouver le serveur à l'adresse www.pop.gmx.com." error doesn't occur anymore. But I can only diagnose on the information I get.

In that case motus9595 should follow the mentioned post and first delete cache / try in a new FF profile. Because this odd www. pop servername might be cached.
