Firefox 48.0.1 Update WIPES OUT X-notifier database
I had my entire X-notifier database wiped clean on an update of Firefox v48.0.1 last night (24 August 2016).
When I elected to install the new Firefox update I was presented a window asking IF, I wanted to ( I do not remember the exact wording) erase, eliminate, rebuild .. however it was worded, it worried me. I did not want to lose my very long list of emails in my database!! The only option was to accept or Cancel Install. I cancelled then set about looking to see if there was a comment - somewhere -anywhere!! - about this issue. I foun nothing.
Having just set up the Firefox Sync, I assumed (mistake #1) that since I was Synced, if I had the databased wiped out on one computer, the other, when synced would rebuild the database. Well, it did NOT do so.
Hence RULE #1, backup your X-notifer database - by EXPORTING your X-notifier data out to a file on your computer. That is good computer management any way. But it does not answer the question, "Why did the Firefox update erase my X-notifier data?"
So, I am not sure if the X-notifier wipe-out was due to Firefox update, Sync or X-notifier not being on the up-tick with Firefox update. Too many variables to be sure which is the culprit .. or not.
But obviously, something does seem to be amiss with the Firefox/X-notifier interface. We who use X-notifier MANY TIMES each day, certainly hope this is remedied quickly.
Anyone care to offer ideas or answers (preferably) to the Topic?

48.0.2
I've made it to FF 48.0.2 with X-Notifier intact... I have the vaguest recollection of FF wanting to (I forget the wording also) perhaps 'refresh the configuration' by (removing add-on?) resetting user customizations, etc. This is not something I needed so I believe there was some way to tell it to just update without changing anything pertaining to my user profile/configuration/add-ons. Worked fine. But yes, if we have more than one or few accounts, we all need to Export our X-Notifier data. Having a newer FF setup on an updated machine may take precedence over others when syncing... and affect other synced machines, for better or worse.

X-notifier Backup
I have now used the X-notifier back-up to re-install the data 3 times in the past week. For some reason, X-notifier just stops recognizing, when I click the X to check for new mail. No repsonse. Click for OPTIONS, Nothing. Only when I Uninstall the Add-on, then re-install it, does it come back. Fortunately, a quick IMPORT and I am good to go again. Though I have this 'work around' it is still and odd function. - net500cg
PS ... Yes, the 'initial trouble' was started with I 'reacted to quickly' to the question. I too, do not remember the exact wording, but I know I didn't select the 'no trouble' option!! Lesson: 'Speed Kills'. Slow DOWN! - net500cg
