Security Google

Gmail to check the mail, a Google security system blocks my e-mail, I get the message that someone has my password and I unlock it, this happens every time  start Firefox.

Yep, Gmail is kinda broken right now in v3.5.19. X-notifier triggers the security alert "Someone has your password, Google stopped this sign-in attempt, but you should review your recently used devices", and after you click "That was me" it works...

EDIT

after confirming that was me in all my Gmail accounts, everything is back to normal, for now at least.

 EDIT 2

after a day, blocked again, emails can not be checked with x-notifier

 EDIT 3

still getting locked out because Google thinks "Someone has your password", and forced to change password on all my accounts everyday or so... I am saddened to have to abandon my favorite Firefox addon ever! :(

But it keeps triggering even after confirming it was me. I had to stop x-notifier from checking my gmail temporarly, hope it get fixed.

It temporarily solved, opening the browser the same thing happened again. Unfortunately does not work well, I have disabled the extension.

I am checking 15 Gmail accounts with a massive amount of other accounts and have no problem.  Yes I get that annoying e-mail thought my inboxes every once in a while that some system logged into my account.  But I rather have an annoying e-mail then my account being hacked and not knowing about it.

My suggestions is to lookd closely as to how you have XN configured to check your GMAIL account  and to manually login onceyou get that message to see if you can get rid of it that way.  I have to do that at time with Hotmail or Yahoo.

I'm having the same problem. Also, I logged in manually into one of my Gmail accounts but I cannot manually log in into the other two I have; Gmail asks me for the recover email addresses (I don't remember them) and such.  Even worse, I have one of those blocked Gmail accounts in my phone, so I get warning messages from Android.

I have been having exactly the same problem (being locked out of Gmail accounts) I've found if I untick the Xnotifier option to 'check on start up' then the problem of locking the accounts as Firefox starts is avoided. I can then use the notifier as normal. I have used Xnotifier for years and it is invaluable, I do hope this latest hicup is resolved quickly.

Edit 1

My apologies I thought I had a temporary fix but I was wrong. I've just been locked out of all my Gmail accounts. AGAIN, this is more than a dozen times now.

A brief (albeit temporary) solution for me was to manually sign into Gmail before X-notifier had a chance to run. Once I'd signed in, X-notifier could continue checking for mail without triggering Gmail's security alarms.

Which defeats the purpose of X-notifier, obviously. And whenever I'd forget to sign into Gmail manually, X-notifier would send Gmail into shrieking security overdrive. I've had to change my Gmail password three times in two weeks.

The simplest solution, finally, was to remove the Gmail entry from X-notifier while waiting for a fix. I love X-notifier, have used it for years, and am happy to stand by until there's a solution to the Gmail problem.

Just signed up to share also my experience. Gmail is throwing security errors all the time no matter what I've tried. We shall wait for a fix from the developer and while waiting we should say a big THANK YOU! Such a useful extension.

I have given up on X-Notifier finally after 7 years. Forced to change four Gmail account passwords about 40 times each since then. It is no longer worth any temporary benefit only to have it happen a few days later again for each account.

Tr3b? You are manually logging in to each of your 15 Gmail accounts to fix the probelm when it recurs every few days? And you are saying that this is no problem? You must be a masochist.

This is purely a Gmail problem unless your account actually has been hacked. The problem is that Google  thinks X-Notifier has hacked your Gmail account. If you are having no problem with Gmail accounts, and have the same setup as everyone here, then please be so kind as to tell us the magical settings that you have set to circumvent this problem.

No, XN is logging me into each account every day on multiple systems.  Whenever the problem occurs, I make sure I am logged out of that account I am in and even delete the account from the GAMIL account screen and then log that account in manually.  From that point on, XN works fine.

Now reading from your other post, are you using GMAIL or INBOX.  I looked at INBOX and it is garbage so I am stayed with GMAIL.  If you are choosing to use INBOX, I sorta recall that you need to make some manual changes in about:config....not sure which area, but it may be an FAQ.

X-Notifier has no problem checking my three gmail accounts, whether I use Chrome, Firefox, or Thunderbird.

As I replied to the other thread ("Gmail not working" posted by Tester) about 'Inbox by Gmail' ...if you want to, you CAN UNcheck the box in the new Inbox's Settings, Other section... to stop 'Redirect Gmail to inbox.google.com', if you want to return to using mail.google.com.

Otherwise, I keep my gmail accounts simple, using defaults I guess... and X-Notifier gmail account settings in Chrome version are on 'Notify Inbox only'... X-Notifier gmail account settings in Firefox version are 'Notifiy Inbox only' and 'Show labels' and all four options for auto login, multiple login are checked.  My checking interval is the default 10 minutes.
But then my Gmail.com Settings for those accounts are just basic defaults... I don't use categories, 2-step, etc.
