I been disabling it temporary than enabling it, than refresh your browser this has been working for me, this could work for you too i'm experiencing issues with it too
Seems to me like you may have a conflict between addons... what if you disable everything except X-Notifier for a while, and see if it settles down... then you could enable them one at a time, run each one for a while before doing another. There are hundreds of thousands of users. The forums are often busy, and often not.
When you see a red cross through your X-Notifier on the top of your Firefox Browser, go down to you see "Check Now" down from there make sure "Enabled" is checked otherwise the X-Notifier won't work , I learned that today when my X-Notifier hasn't been working for me and notifying me of emails coming in.

Got Some Advice To Pass On
