Facebook announced that all email sent to @facebook.com addresses will be redirected to the primary email associated with your facebook account (in Settings, General)... which in effect kind of terminated the whole @facebook.com addressing scheme. Mail sent to @facebook.com addresses will NOT show up in facebook "messages" folder anymore.
-- Not sure how this affects actual Private Messages, but the X-Notifier script won't notice any @facebook.com email; there may be a script change necessary for detecting PM's. ??
I didn't want to alert to soon, but yes, same here. Sometimes though XN alerts 1 while there are more than 1 notification. And othertimes my facebook page itself is hesitant in showing the number of new notifications on actively reloading the page. (As it is just reloading from client cache)
Well... recently, I did see that I had two "notifications" which didn't seem to register with X-Notifier... ...but I have a private message now and X-Notifier -did- recognize and inform me about that.
Update: I communicated with the X-Notifier admin, Towithu... and he says that Facebook has changed the webpage structure such that he cannot get the new/unread count of 'notifications' anymore. -- So, you will see an X-Notifier count for -new- Private Messages (the message bubbles icon)... for the time being, until they change that too ...but no more X-notifications of Facebook 'notifications' (the world globe icon). Perhaps FB will change it again in the future.
...and...
(Everytime I see the words "I concur", I think of the movie "Catch Me If You Can" with Leonardo DiCaprio. 'Do you concur?' ;)
First of all: This thread was started in the Script Request forum, which is really intended for new script requests only. It obviously is also confusing, because people are assuming the subject is either Firefox or Chrome related.
Now, I am also starting a conversation at this location... But this thread is forum polution as it is, so... ;0 The fact is the structure of the forum is also to blame in my eyes. There is no X-notifier General forum, where one can start a thread for a failing script in both X-notifier applications. Then one could direct from there to the two separate threads at the correct location: X-notifier General --- X-notifier for Firefox --- X-notifier for Chrome, Safari, and Opera
@RpD or anyone else: Any thoughts about that possibility?
A 'fix' or update request is a -kind- of script request... just not a new one. There could be another sub-forum for Update requests (under the Request forum listing... and then people having glitch troubles would be requesting an Update and we'd be responding that an update isn't necessarily needed because our scripts are still working, etc... followed by help suggestions/conversation.
A general forum might end up a maintenance chore... moving posts to more appropriate forums. A lot of people would probably be lazy and dump their post into 'general'. Additional subdivisions might not hurt... for those people who could follow them, for 'original' posts.
Doesn't matter much to me, I guess... always have pollution/lazy posters, regardless of how you subdivide. -Replies- are often off-topic, or off-platform. I haven't really seen any posts being moved. Also might help to have more visible forum/subdivision titles... in capital letters ...X-Notifier for FIREFOX, X-Notifier for CHROME... etc. Have those titles shown when clicking 'Reply'... and at the open post at bottom of threads.
(Seems like time to remove the (Webmail Notifier) from Firefox forum title.)
I have to admit, part of your objections against a General forum were playing in the back of my head too. Capitulation might help, yes.
I still consider Script Request the wrong location. It forces admin to read long discussions about issues that might not even be valid. A separate Script Problem forum would be preferable. You could then inform admin when the problem prooves valid or place the problem in Script Request.
Yes, Requests>Script Requests should be for NEW script requests... but then people should read the 'read this first' post ...and not post requests in the Firefox or Chrome forums. >;} I do believe in CAPS and bold and RED lettering too.
And script problems... well, seems to me to be a general ;) forum post. >;}
Up to Tobwithu. You can make a Feature Request... heheh. New forum for forum feature requests, instead of X-Notifier feature... LoL.

Probably.
It probably makes sense, but it doesn't affect private messages only, general notifications aren't recognized either.

I'm having problems again, anyone else?
I have notifications, but X-notifier doesn't recognize them. The icon appears as if it was working normally, though. Anyone else with this issue?
