IMAP settings and periodic check

Forums
X-notifier 3.x for Firefox (deprecated)

Hello,

1) Is there any difference between X-Notifier for Thunderbird and for Firefox? Since I use both Thunderbird and Firefox, what is recommended?

2) In Thunderbird, in X-Notifier options, there is no field for either POP3/IMAP server, and the default 10 minutes mail check is used. Why?

I would prefer to have IMAP IDLE notification (like Gmail in Android), so no need for X-Notifier to periodically poll the mailbox? Otherwise I do not see now the advantage of X-Notifier vs. Thunderbird since Thunderbird has already built-in periodic inbox check.

Maybe I am missing something. Thank you in advance for your explanations.

Edit: I found a standalone utility named POP Peeper. It is portable and works well.

Hi, I don't know if I should post this here. But I contacted the author of this script but got no response yet. I guess after a recent update of exchange server, owa2010 or owa2007 script stopped working. Would someday fix it? Thanks. Rock

Not able to save settings after changing interval times

Forums
X-notifier 3.x for Firefox (deprecated)

For some reason, I can't seem to save any of the settings after changing the mail check interval time. Clicking on "OK" or even hitting Enter doesn't make the option window go away. The only way to make it go away is to hit "CANCEL" or click the close "X" box on the upper right of the window.

If I change some other setting (like add/delete an account) and don't mess with any of the interval time, then I can click "OK" and close the option window like normal. Bug? Some setting in Firefox?

I just recently installed the Opera version and it seems to be working OK, but I use Firefox as my primary browser so I'd like to get this working properly. Thanks!!

Yahoo Phantoms

Forums
X-notifier 3.x for Firefox (deprecated)

In my Yahoo email account I have no unread emails, yet Notifier shows 3 unread emails. I have not checked either setting - to show messages from spam, or to only show messages from inbox. This glitch has been occurring for the last 2 updates to Firefox now, and I've done everything I can think of, even checking my Yahoo Messenger messages, which still doesn't get rid of the icon number on the status bar. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks!

I have two GMX addresses, but since yesterday the second one (the alias one) isn't checked anymore.

It has been working well for a couple of weeks though and suddenly stopped working now.

The first address is still working too.

Is a Sky/Yahoo script needed?

Forums
X-notifier 3.x for Firefox (deprecated)

Hi, Sky has recently associated it's Email with Yahoo instead of Gmail.

I tried using the Yahoo option to no avail so do I need a script for this or is there another way to use the Sky Email with X-Notifier?

Cheers,

Keith
