[Edit: Thanks to Jeroen...] - In X-Notifier 3.5.23 and earlier... after X-Notifier is installed, the X-Notifier toolbar is enabled/disabled from Firefox's menubar... View, Toolbars, ...then click 'X-notifier Toolbar' to enable/disable. (When enabled, there will be a checkmark next to it.) - In X-Notifier 4.x and later... due to FF programming interface changes, the toolbar is no longer available.
The Toolbar is not there anymore, RpD. Does the Sidebar make it obsolete to admin? Or is it missing due to a Firefox update that prevents X-notifier to provide the toolbar choice...
Thanks. I have edited my original post. I have continued using the old FF 49.0.1 and X-Notifier 3.5.23 for custom scripts ...(but also run the Portable version of FF 51.0.1 with X-Notifier 4.0.2). I forgot to check for differences. I assume users can still run X-Notifier 3.5.23 on the latest Firefox. I'm not going to keep a third pair running to test that combination.
I estinate the new FF precluded the toolbar... seems to me that Sidebar predates XN's toolbar?... and the toolbar was working well. If I chose between the two, I think I'd use the toolbar, although Sidebar shows subfolders, if I remember right.

Cyberfox = Firefox minus some features (Telemetry, health-report, sponsored tiles & other components that collected information), including the Cyberfox feature package. And more importantly the source code to (binary) object code compilation gets optimized for either Intel or AMD chipset using the Windows 8 SDK that includes Visual Studio 2012 (or possibly already newer versions of each).
When I look at the very close Cyberfox version number, it makes me believe they take each major update step like Firefox 51.01 to build Cyberfox (now 51.03), only having to add and test their feature package. So I don't think Cyberfox is going to make their own business life difficult by keeping support of XUL. That would mean a real fork-off of Mozilla's Firefox software and thus more building effort on each Firefox release. But who knows...
And of course I am only guesstimating from the sideline ;-)

Mysteriously today XN upgraded to 402....what a nightmare to fix properly back to xn3523
