Puzzling Firefox warning

Puzzling Firefox warning

After updating x-notifier on Firefox 40.0 the Add-on list contained a warning:
X-notifier could not be verified for use in Firefox. Proceed with caution.

On the explanation page it states:

Not only X-notifier

The message is displayed for add-ons that are not properly signed when boolean xpinstall.signatures.required in about:config is set to false. When set to true the add-on will be blocked.
See https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1149702

I have 7 other add-ons that now show that warning (I have only 1 of them enabled). So either those add-ons are not properly signed by the add-on developer and Firefox 40.0 is now enforcing this or this is a sloppy bug in Firefox 40.0, in which case we will soon see the 40.1 update.

39/40

Using Win10, I was on FF 39.0.3 and installed the X-N 3.5.12 update... no warning.
Then I updated FF to 40.0, it checked add-ons during restart... no alerts, but the add-ons list has the warning (also for Skype click-to-call.)
