Why is it with new notifier, you have to reveal password?! I don't want to reveal my password to anybody other than needed (mail-account)! So up to now I deactivated notifier.
Latest version of X-Notifier allows you to define accounts, and leave password blank. But, you'll need to -manually- check those email accounts... (right-click X-Notifier icon to pop up account list and click account)... then it will prompt for password (-once- while browser is open). If you close browser then you'll need to enter password again.
[Edit: By the way X-Notifier Lite will open to email (if there's no -new- email, just right-click the X-N Lite envelope icon and click the account in the pop-up list).]
You can't check email -automatically- if you don't provide passwords... X-Notifier is an automatic checker for new email.
When you enter your passwords into X-notifier, they are stored in an encrypted file on your computer. When X-notifier checks your email accounts, it gets all the information it needs, usernames and passwords, from the encrypted file that is saved on your computer.
You never actually send any email data to the evil X-notifier Corporation.
Bottom-line, if you do not like "automatic checker" on email, then do not use X-notifier, move on your life and use your own MANUALLY checker with your own HANDS.
FYI: X-notifier is open source, you can check any "evil", if you found something, you can post here.
