icon moving when restarting firefox

By foxtom , 13 November 2013

hi there !

when I restart firefox, the mailboxes icons (hotmail and gmail) don't stay where I moved them (menu bar) and go back to the default emplacement (xnotifier bar). But the xnotifier icon doesn't move and stay in the menu bar ...

Can somebody tell me why and how I could fix this ? thanks !

Perhaps...

There may be security software blocking  administrator (write) rights, or something preventing saving, or 'protecting' or cleaning out your settings?
I've tested on FF 24 without problem.  Your X-Notifier icon does stay in the menu bar (or is it bookmark bar)?
What other addons, security, cleaners are you running?

hi!

My X-Notifier icon does stay in the menu bar, not in the bookmark bar.

I don't think it's comming from a security addon or software cause I have other icons in this bar and they are never moving.

anyway here are my "security" addons: ad block, flash block, ghostery, webmail adblocker.

Thanks for your help.

Well...

I use adblock plus, and Click & Clean... don't know about the others  you listed...  you might try disabling all add-ons besides x-notifier, temporarily... then move your toolbar icon.
I just went into Click & Clean and told it to clean everything... browsing and download history, cookies, cache, active logins, offline website data, site preferences, etc... and I still can't duplicate your problem with x-notifier toolbar.  I moved one of my accounts from the X-Notifier toolbar to the Menu toolbar (via 'Customize' when you right-click the toolbars area, or 'Toolbar layout' in 'new' menu system)... and it stays there after I shutdown FFand restart it.

So... seems like a problem writing the new menu toolbar setting permanently into your setup.
As if you aren't getting permission, or something 'cleans' it off.
If I couldn't isolate a conflict or over-aggressive security/cleaner, I'd have to fall back on exporting accounts, re-installing X-Notifier, importing accounts... or testing in a new FF profile.
