X-notifier closes Chrome while verifying the last account
Hello !
Yesterday, I updated Google chrome to the latest version.
I have x-notifier set to verify at the startup and every 30 minutes.
today, I opened Chrome and x-notifier started verifying, as soon as it reaches the last account (because I have 5 accounts) Chrome closed and reran itself. I ran chrome more than twice to make sure and to know where the problem was. Finally, I disabled X-notifier and the problem disappeared.
any help to fix the problem with X-notifier?

Last account
So... to help the X-Notifier admin... what's the last account provider? (Hotmail, Yahoo, etc.)
No error messages as to why Chrome restarted?
What version is "the latest version"? 'Stable', Beta, Dev version??
You might try reinstalling X-Notifier.

for the last account,
for the last account, whatever. because I set to open automatiacally accounts when there's a new mail. I think the problem occurs when it's about to open an account that's when it finishes verifying.
I have stable version of chrome 28.0.1500.71 m
I'll try to reinstall X-notifier

I reinserted my account username and passoword but the problem isn't solved.
I uninstalled and installed X-notifier, the problem occurs exactly when I it found that there's an email in my hotmail account, and when it's about to open it automatically Chrome closes completely.

Troubleshoot
Sometimes... I find that it helps to delete the account, shut down the browser, then restart the browser, and re-add the account... sometimes. I will set my Hotmail to auto-open and send me some email and see what happens in Chrome. [EDIT: I have X-Notifier 3.3.3 and Chrome Version 28.0.1500.71 m ...and it auto-opened my hotmail fine. There is a new version of stable Chrome... Version 28.0.1500.72 m]

Troubleshoot continued
Sometimes... another extension is interfering.
Do you have other extensions installed in Chrome?
Disable the one(s) you are suspecting one by one, restarting your browser each time.

Intermittent?
Server-side changes (like Hotmail association) are -not- likely to cause this kind of problem... just more likely an interruption of checking, perhaps... not crashing Chrome.
If it were me... I'd go back to disabling all other add-ons, then restart with just X-Notifier... I'd run that way for a while before I re-add any other add-ons. Let X-Notifier run for a while by itself and see if it works fine... because the problem may be 'intermittent' with other add-ons... it may not appear immediately when you enable another add-on. So, I'd enable them slowly... enable one, close browser/restart, run for a while each time... test with a new mail sent to your account(s).
(Do you have any 'security' software running outside of Chrome? cleaners, scanners, etc.)
Are there many other add-ons? Maybe you could list them for us.

Notes
(First, I edited my previous post... I didn't mean to suggest shutdown as in shutdown PC, just... close browser/restart.)
Anyway... I use Avast! free version, which also installs Avast! online security extension in Chrome.
I have CCleaner and AntiMalwareBytes, but I don't let them 'run in the background'... I just run them manually on occasion.
I have Google Dictionary.
I have DoNotTrackMe installed but it conflicts with other anti-trackers, so I disabled it... I use Disconnect instead.
(If you use too many anti-trackers, Chrome in particular will complain about one anti-tracker directing traffic before the other anti-trackers can. So you can't really use Disconnect, DoNotTrackMe, HTTPS Everywhere, KB Enforcer... all at the same time.)
I use AdBlock Plus (free) instead of Avast! ad blocker.
I tried out ezLinkPreview, but it didn't cause me any problem... I just added it, tested auto-open on my Hotmail, and I didn't fuss with any ezLinkPreview settings though, if there are any.
So I can't really point you to any particular conflict.

"Windows 8 mode"
The devil is in the details.
What you refer to as "Windows 8 mode" is technically, the 'Modern UI' (user interface).
It used to be 'Metro' until some German company complained.
So I guess now there's another Chrome troubleshooting question to ask... "Are you running in Windows 8 Desktop or Modern UI mode?" (In your case, yes, it's in Modern UI mode.)
Ok... I managed to duplicate the crashing behavior... after auto-open worked fine in the Modern UI, but only the first time. Thereafter, 'Modern' Chrome simply crashes when it goes to auto-open an email.
I think this resolves your situation, at this point... and you have a 'workaround' (Desktop mode) ...but you might email Tobwithu, the X-Notifier author/admin, at xndevel@gmail.com, and tell him about the 'bug'.
You can refer him to these posts... http://xnotifier.tobwithu.com/dp/node/622
I believe he's the only one who can resolve it further, or... not, as it may be a Chrome/Modern bug.

Whichever is set to Auto-open
I believe the crash will manifest based on auto-open, regardless of which account (with that setting).
So the account is irrelevant... it's the auto-open mechanism which fails in the Modern Win8 version.
Uncheck auto-open or use Desktop version in the meantime.
I expect eventually there will be a Chrome fix (from Google).
