Good morning. I've tried all the solutions proposed in http://xnotifier.tobwithu.com/dp/node/4 , but none has worked. After re-installing (many times) x-notifier doesn't even allow the configuration of the g-mail accounts in the pop-up menu. Also, the step 3 in the above mentioned post doesn't work: - the Log menu doesn't appear. x-Notifier has been a valuable extra to me in a long time, but after the latest Firefox update, it just went bananas. Thanks in advance...
Thnks for the input. My problem is that I'm just a noob and didn't got exactly what you meant... Have already instaled Cyberfox Portable. What am I supposed to do now?
I've just exported x-notifier settings created in Cyberfox to my regular Firefox x-notifier instalation but I can't import them to it. The settings do not appear...
I would uninstall X-Notifier (if it asks to remove user data, I would), and -restart- the browser. After restarting the browser, install X-Notifier again. You should see the X-Notifier envelope icon on your Firefox menubar. Right-click the envelope icon, and click Options... define one account. Save that... and try it. - Tell us what happens. [X-Notifier 3.5.8 works fine with Firefox 38.0.5]
Thanks. I've allready did all of this but it keeps not allowing any account configuration. When oppening Options and introducing the account details, it just doesn't save them and doesn't allow to add the account.
Find your Firefox Profile folder and make a copy of it.
Delete your firefox installation and manually make sure all registry and folders have been deleted.
Reboot your system
Reinstall Firefox, reinstall XN and then try importing your config.
If that still doesn't work, you have something wrong that you need to dig deep. Personally I would use a portable version since you know where all the files/folders reside.
I have had to reinstalled XN along with all of my add-ons after getting infected (again) by malware. GMail, Yahoo, etc. are not in the drop down list as they have been in the past.
I've unistalled, reinstalled, restarted and tried to find Cyberfox Portable (couldn't) and nothing has worked.
I'm not sure that I want to copy my profile, unistall FF and go through the whole process again.
EDIT: Well.....I rebooted the computer after running ADW Cleaner and lo and behold, the accounts are now there and synced.
So when you open X-Notifier options, you select the script and enter username and password, and then click Add, and you see the account listed on the right panel list of accts, then you click OK.... and X-Notifier does not then have the account in its drop-down list?? (right-click the X-Notifier envelope option)
At what point does it not save the account definition... when you click Add, when you click OK, or when your restart Firefox?
Do you have any security software or cleaning software blocking or clearing Firefox settings?
Have you tried temporarilydisabling all other add-ons except X-Notifier (then restart browser) and then define an account in X-Notifier Options, click ADD, click OK... to see if the account is saved?
I too have the issue x-notifier is not working in firefox 38. The cofig files have all been deleted from the machine. after installing x-notifier multiple times. the icon appears but right clicking bring up the menu butonly the option to show the side panel functions. Getting into option thru the add-ons menu is possible but any attempt to add an account fail because none of the buttons in the options window function!
Which machines and sure enough same problem on a completely different machine.
I would try temporarily disabling other addons... and a new Firefox profile... don't import anything from old setup. If you have security software, temporarily disable that too.

Solutions
You might rephrase that to "does not work in my setup"... ;-)
Try the steps in this developer's post:

Can it be your configuration
Can it be your configuration file is corrupt? Try Firefox/Cyberfox Portabe and install just XNand importing your config file to see if that works.

Yes they do. I can now
Yes they do. I can now configure x-notifier in Cyberfox. But does it means that I'm still unable to do the same in my regular Firefox instalation?

It sounds like your profile
It sounds like your profile is screwed up. I only use portable versions now and not sure how to fix the installed versions of Firefox.
