I would suggest that you first disable all other add-ons and restart the browser to see if X-Notifier then works without conflict.
Also, you could clear cache/cookies, then uninstall X-Notifier, restart your browser, then re-install X-Notifier.
Oh, and it's not a case of a "BIG BUG"... You may have gotten a corrupted installation the first time. Or have a conflict with other add-ons... or... security software that is wiping out X-N settings.

No chance to get xn to work
No chance to get xn to work properly:
1) Reset firefox to default
2) cache + cookies cleared - deleted
3) profile deleted and new profile created
XN forgets all setings after shutting down the PC.
I'm working with with roaming profiles on a Windows 7 x64
