Need help fixing a usability issue (Unable to open email with a single click)

With version 3.5.23, I was able to left click on the mail icon, and it would immediately open my gmail account in a new tab (only have 1 account I use this extension with). Now when I click on it, I have ot go through a menu before i can check or open my email

Furthermore, the notification count now takesup more vertical screen space, and breaks compatibility with any theme or tweaks which makes the UI more compact because it has an oversized number for th enotification count, that extends over the bar.

I guess I will stick with the older version until I can find more info on how to get it t open my primary email account with a single left click on the icon, as well as possibly making the icon smaller so it can stop overlapping oher UI elements when using a compact theme.

Bumping to find if there is any solution for version 4.0.2.

It has been over 3 months now and each version still seems to offer no solution for this bug.

furthermore, we ever there is new mail, the new mail number is still oversized, and covers other content, whereas the old version kept it small enough to not cover any ajacent content.

Firefox has been warning that it is changing the application programming interface for developers to use to create addons for FF versions after 49.x... so the X-Notifier developer created a new version 4.x of X-Notifier which is compatible with that new API. Apparently you can still use version 3.5.23 of X-Notifier with the latest Firefox.
This new version 4.x is much like the Chrome version of X-Notifier, because the new FF API is very similar to the Chrome API.

So X-Notifier 4.x (and higher) loses some features... (the Chrome version has always been lacking many features of the Firefox verson of X-Notifier). Lost features includes the "left-click opens new emails ...(or, the first listed email account in account definitions... if there are no new emails)" feature.
You have to use the older version 3.5.23 of X-Notifier if you want to open email account(s) with a left-click on the X-Notifier envelope icon.  You also have to use 3.5.23 if  you use the 'custom scripts' feature.

The new version 4.x for FF (and the Chrome version) simply opens the list of defined email accounts when you left-click on the X-Notifier envelope icon... and will continue to do so unless the API changes so that the X-Notifier developer can program the old feature back again.

As for the badge overlap... it may again be that the API limits what the developer can do with the badge size... or... it's not a priority yet.  I can't see a problem for me, but have you emailed xndevel@gmail.com about it?  However... the developer is somewhat busy in real life opening a medical clinic... X-Notifier is not his main occupation.
And with Firefox dawdling about enforcing only the new API... 3.5.23 may be best for him and us.

For me, the thing is that there are other email addons that use the new API, but don't have this issue, the only issue is they only work with 1 provider, e.g., just gmail. from testing different ones, it seems that it is up to the dev to specify the size of the UI elements, some make it small, while some others will go for varying degrees of being oversized. Some do it even worse than x-notifier, while some will do it better and offer something closer to what we had with 3.5.23.

I just wish x-notifier can fix these 2 main issues, as it seems other devs were able to avoid having those issues. Other than that, out of all that I tried  (I tried a ton in a VM, and test account for the stuff that was not fuly tested), and x-notifier is the best in terms of overall functionality. No one is getting anywhere near the overall functionality of this addon. The issue is literally just the oversized number, and not opening email on the first click.

I have an issue with this too, and hope they can find a solution. FF is just messing up all my favorite add-ons. I'll use 3.5.23 as long as it works.
