New gmail inbox

There is  a new gmail inbox with  a different link (inbox.google.com). Problem is X-Notifier always opens in the old gmail inbox (mail.google.com) and I can't change the link. X-Notifer only provides the option fot choosing a link wih IMAP. For gmail Inbox, it chooses it automatically and user can't change it.

See the developer's solution in this post:

Additional usage help for creating the new 'link' string record for your Gmail account in about:config:

  1. Search for your Gmail account by copying the following record part in the search box: extensions.xnotifier.accounts.[gmail#
  2. Right-click a config record of your Gmail account
    (like 'extensions.xnotifier.accounts.[gmail#USERNAME].enabled')
    and choose 'Copy name'
  3. Right-click again and choose New->String
  4. Paste the record name from clipboard, replace the end part 'enabled' by 'link' and click Ok
  5. Right-click your new config record and choose Modify
  6. Set the value to 'https://inbox.google.com' and click Ok

You might have to restart Firefox.

Thank you. That worked!

I'm using Gmail on FF 49.0.2, and running Win 10. Yesterday, audio and visual notifications just stopped working... for the third time in a year and a half. The last two times, it came back on its own. I've tried disabling all other add-ons, but no improvement. Any ideas? When I looked elesewhere on this site, I saw that X-notifier does not (any longer) support Gmail on Firefox. Huh? Any ideas?

My three gmail accounts are checking just fine on Firefox 49.0.1 (32 bit) and X-Notifier 3.5.23 ...on Win10 latest updated.
I do occasionally have accounts (not just Gmail) that stop responding, but as you've seen, they will start working again... or I delete the account definition in X-Notifier, restart browser, and redefine the account and it may start working again.

I think  you misunderstood the comment elsewhere about Gmail on Firefox... it was probably referencing some feature of Gmail.

I will upgrade to FF 49.0.2 ...and later I may try the  64 bit version.  (Edit:  working fine with 64bit 49.0.2)
You can find out which bit version you're running by following steps here...
https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/how-do-i-tell-if-32-bit-or-64-bit
(They should work the same, whether 32 or 64 bit.)
