One of Two Hotmail Accounts not available on x-notifier today

I have 6 email accounts: 2 each Hotmail, Yahoo and Gmail.Using Opera and Chrome with x-notifier while  Gmail accounts are always polled and always open when selected the secondary Yahoo and Hotmail accounts are grayed out and require manual selection to open which also grays out the main account until it is manually opened when the normal service resumes. X-notifier on Firefox has always polled and opened all the accounts. Today I found the secondary Hotmail Account grayed out and not polled by Check Now. When I selected it manually I was required to log in manually by Outlook.com. After doing so and checking the box to stay logged in after I exited the secondary account remained grayed out and was not polled. I removed the cookies for the secondary account, deleted and reinstalled the secondary account on x-notifer and reinstalled x-notifier 3.59 on Firefox 39.0and then restarted Firefox and found the secondary Hotmail account still grayed out and not polled. I signed into Outlook.com manually, checked the box for staying logged in and exited, finding not change in x-notifier behavior after restarting Firefox. Whenever I Check Now today my secondary Hotmail account is listed in red and not checked.

My workaround for now was to set up forwarding from the secondary Hotmail account to the primary account which x-notifier can still poll. I hope normal service can resume with x-notifier soon. I must wonder whether what I am experiencing is a constraint artifact of the Microsoft use of a Windows sign-in as portal for Windows 10 upgrade.

In addition to my other accounts, I also check 6 Hotmail and 6 Yahoo accounts.  All are working fine now, but 2 of my Hotmail were graayed out.  Once I selected the account manually, I was logged into that account but I receieved a notice that Microsoft was doing an upgrade.  Once I selected continue, it took me into the mail account.  I did the same for the other Hotmail account and then selected to Check Now from XN and all my accounts are now checked..

I can check into the grayed out Hotmail account manually. The first or second time it took me through the process you describe, but the behavior using x-notifier didn't change. I have had no issue with my main Hotmail account. I also find that despite checking the keep me logged in box I am asked to sign in everytime I open the grayed out account in Firefox, but it opens as usual when I click on the (always) grayed out account in Chrome 43.0 or Opera 30.0. From the beginning until now the Firefox add on has been able to access all of my email accounts automatically while the Chrome and Opera versions always leave the secondary Yahoo and Hotmail accounts grayed out. Clicking on them opens the inbox and grays out the main account. Now on my Win 7 PC the Firefox addon has become compromised for the secondary Hotmail account but behaves as always with my two Yahoo accounts.

I have three Microsoft related accts... hotmail, outlook.com, and live.com ...which all go through the same access server, all working fine.

The recent MS upgrade did affect all of my MS accts eventually, you just have to click through to your inbox to fix that... make sure you can start up to your inbox as normal and that particular glitch goes away.

Just to note... in Chrome, secondary accts will be gray (or less bold in Firefox) when there's no new email, but if their logo/icon is showing then they are being checked. When the accts fail to be checked, their logo/icon will not be displayed, as well as being gray (or red, in Chrome).

Sometimes, I can fix a problem account, then I hit Check Now to test... and no matter how many times I click Check Now, it will not check the problem account (others will be checked)... but if I restart the browser, it will resume working... depending on the glitch.

I reinstalled Firefox, deleted x-notifier addon including settings, reinstalled x-notifier and recreated my 6 accounts and now everything is working. Reinstalling Firefox had no effect. Removing and reinstalling x-notifier was the solution--I don't know if removing the settings was crucial, but it is simple enough to reinstall e mail accounts on a fresh x-notifier.

Persistence pays sometimes... occasionally saved settings get corrupted.
Starting from scratch is a last resort some people refuse to do... but it can be easier than fighting it.

I agree with you.

I have 4 hotmail accounts. 3 are working correctly, 1 is not. The 1 not working has been upgraded to the new outlook preview, the remainder are still on the old system.

I've ensured all of the notices/acceptances have been clicked in Outlook and and I've uninstalled and resinstalled xnotifier but the account on the new outlook still remains greyed out.

Did you elect not to save settings when you removed the x-notifier add on from Firefox ? If not, try removing x-notifier without saving the settings and then reinstalling.

I don't know about Outlook.com preview, but if that is what you think is the root of the problem can you revert that Hotmail account to see if it then works correctly? If you can pinpoint the problem that way you can ask the administrator of x-notifier to update it to remediate the issue.

As Tobwithu noted the link elsewhere... there are new features coming...

Yes lethedoom I did. I actually even tried resetting my firefox profile to a fresh/new one and had the same issue. Are you using the new Outlook preview and it works for you?

Thanks for the link RpD, yes that is what they have updated one of my accounts with.  I've dug around and the only options I've found for opting out or reverting to the non-preview is changing to a "light" mode.. but notifier still chokes on it.

I am not sure if I am using the preview in either of my Hotmail accounts--how do you tell ? I do see a box with 9 dots in the upper left hand corner which has drop down icons for 10 functions such as Mail, People, etc. and that account is polled by x-notifier. Regretfully I have no other ideas for you to try. Until I solved my problem I used the workaround of having the problem account inbox forwarded to a fully functional account which worked well enough if that is an option for you.

If you were using it you would probably know. There is a very distinct new loader screen after logon as well it saying "Outlook Mail (Preview)" in the title.

POP3 script is also an option to access hotmail/outlook/live accounts until X-Notifier can be made to work with Outlook Preview. The server should be pop3.live.com

Check out the Outlook Preview link that I posted above, and you'll see what it's about.

Neither of my Hotmail accounts is Preview--I'll brace myself for possible trouble when they foist it on me.
