why does xnotifier open a new tab when I click on the icon that has the number of emails that were sent to my email address, it did not used to do this and I don't know what to click on to stop it.
What do you expect to happen (what used to happen)?
By default, clicking the X-Notifier icon, when it shows a number of new emails, will cause new tabs to open... one for each account that has new emails. If you want... you can change the click behavior to simply cause X-Notifier to check again for new emails... but you have to edit a 'hidden' setting by using Firefox's address bar to go to... about:config ...and changing an existing key (see below).
When the X-Notifier icon does -not- show a number of new emails, clicking the X-Notifier icon will open the very first account listed at the top of your account definitions in X-Notifier, Options.
You can also affect the result of a left-click on the X-Notifier icon, but going into X-Notifier, Options, General tab, and choosing whether to open new messages in a new tab or in a new window.

Leftclick:0
Leftclick:0 doesn't work, still opens new tabs while first tab is still available.

Use multiple login?
See if this will make it do what you want...
Go to X-Notifier, Options... CHECK the boxess for "Use multiple login" and "Keep session for links".
If that doesn't do it, I don't know.
