stop webmail page opening

Hi. I would appreciate being able to stop an account's webpage opening when the X-Notifyer icon is clicked. For example, disable my Yahoo account so clicking the icon only opens my Gmail & Outlook accounts. All accounts would continue to count & display new messages & popup info. I use an external program for one of my mail accounts so don't need the webpage, but like the info displayed & would like to quickly open my multiple other accounts with a single click.

Many thanks in advance, even more if this becomes implemented.

You can uncheck the account in options and the account will not open up..or is this not what you are asking?

I believe poster only wants to stop the automatic pop-up of website/inbox when clicking new email notice (new count on X-N envelope icon), but continue checking -all- accounts... whereas unchecking the account in Options will disable the account and not check it at all.
-- Don't see how disabling inbox-open can be done, unless there's a 'hidden' (about:config) option (haven't looked)... or a feature update to X-N.

PupsB1981 did post a Feature Request...

Let's say he is used to read his business company mail in Outlook on his desktop and wants to continue doing so, because there he has a lot of stuff organized and archived. While browsing on his laptop or tablet he still likes to get notified of new company mail, but he prefers to handle it on his desktop's Outlook.

So he needs a boolean that he can set to false (default value true):
extensions.xnotifier.accounts.[company#[user]@company.com].openOnIconClick

openOnIconClick

@jeroen, that is for real or 'wish'

@PupsB1981

Can you use IMAP without link to... for example

"file:///Applications/Thunderbird.app/Contents/MacOS/thunderbird-bin"

Can be leave "blank" on link, so that way it will not open up, but it will show you how many new email.

I think Jeroen's example is for a 'proposed' feature as a specific key.

Good idea, CFB.   PupsB1981 could use either the IMAP or the POP3 script to check email on the specific account to be checked for email but not auto-login to inbox (when X-Notifier newmail envelope icon is clicked)...

IMAP or POP3 script checks for new mail only... and will not auto-login to Inbox (or do anything else, as long as you do -not- define the "Link" option for an IMAP or POP3 account).
 - The 'Link' option was created for IMAP and POP3 script, so users could set a webpage (or a program) to open when there was new email and the X-Notifier icon is clicked... see:  http://xnotifier.tobwithu.com/dp/node/6

Hi Everyone, thanks for your thoughts & input. @Jeroen is right - I have a hotmail account I want x-notifyer to check the number of unread email from, a display the popup info when I first start FF (& display popup info when more new emails come into my hotmail account). I also have other email accounts gmail & yahoo that I want x-notifyer to treat normally (count, display & open webmail). What i don't want is when I click on the x-notifyer icon for it to open my hotmail account webmail page.

@CFBancroft Thanks. I liked your pop3/IMAP idea but when I tried to do it just got a red "HPop: not checked." mouseover info & greyed out info for other views. Any suggestions for getting hotmail to work with pop3/imap? I tried RpD's above info but it wasn't quite enough for me.

Again, thanks for ideas, suggestions & advice, but please offer more.

Install this version. http://xnotifier.tobwithu.com/files/ff/beta.php
Type 'about:config' in the locationbar.
Create new string value 'extensions.xnotifier.accounts.[hotmail#YOUR_ID].link' and set it as ''(blank).

@PupsB1981 and other X-notifier User...

Any correct grammar, misspelling, or misunderstoood...

Please post here and Thanks...

@Tobwithu

one a little bother me because if any "blank" input that cause "disappear", as I explain

IF you want to remove it or "Forget it", [Right-click] Reset
Restart Firefox, it will disappear the line.

It will force remove if they decide to change their mind in future that they want to click-able. But the "blank" already blank and it will NOT remove?

Thanks again,

CFBancroft

8) Restart Firefox and ENJOY your e-mail count, while preventing the webmail page from opening on XN icon click.

IF you want to remove it or "Forget it" (undo):
1) [Right-click] Reset
2) Restart Firefox  (this will remove your 'about:config' line)

Reason:
Request for a feature restriction for the XN icon click event:
To disable linking to the webmail page for a specific account, while keeping the display of this account's e-mail count.

THANK YOU FOR CORRECTIONS.

question word

opening on XN icon click
or
opening on host icon click

which one is right?

I will corrrect again three days later, I gone camping with my kids.

XN icon click is correct.

This feature is only meant for Firefox, when the user clicks on the XN icon. I quess with host icon you mean the icons shown on right-mouse click? In my perspective here the webmail page should still open, because here the user chooses to do so!! So the host webmail page links in XN-icon's right-mouse menu should remain!

Happy camping ;-)

tobwithu & CFBancroft & others. Many thanks for the update & help. this is exactly what I was after.
