I downloaded an earlier version of firefox (44.0.2) CLICK HERE TO DOWNLOAD ENGLISH 32-BIT VERSION and installed and the problem went away. However - if you use this version you need to turn off the Firefox Auto update or set it to let you decide when to install or else the version will just get overwritten with the latest version.
The problem can be fixed by uninstalling and then reinstalling X-Notifier. However, if you also have NetVideoHunter installed, it will break again and only one of those two extensions will work. This happens on all platforms (Linux, Windows, Mac).
It has most likely something to do with FF 45 changing something on the back end, but any help/suggestion/solution will be highly appreciated.
I've got 2 computers, both with FF 45 portable: one pc is ok with all my Gmail accounts, but on the other one all my Gmail accounts are grey. Only my Outlook account seems to be ok (...now my gmx account is also not working...)
I already posted ,in the wrong thread,a solution which worked for me so here it is again slightly ammended.
After update to FFx 45, Gmail 3 accounts, AOL, Yahoo and GMX were not working as they did with previous FFx versions. I found Masking agent Add On caused Yahoo Mail not to work properly and after disabling it Yahoo works correctly.
I also found if I disabled Privacy Badger Add On Gmail and AOL functioned correctly. When I had a closer look at Privacy Badger in the options, filter settings, the "slider" was set on yellow ( ie block cookies.) on accounts.google.com. I moved slider to green ( enable cookies) and re-enabled Privacy Badger. Google,AOL and Yahoo emails all work correctly and the only one I still have a problem with is GMX.
Perhaps this info may help some others !

Privacy Badger
@weg43 you're right, it's definitively a Privacy Badger conflict: I disabled it and all my Gmail accounts are working (gmx is still grey). Thank you.
