X-notifier is not checking Gmail accounts w/ 2-factor

I have FF 44.0.2 and x-notifier 3.5.19. I noticed a couple of days ago that two of my Gmail accounts are greyed out, and I have to manually click on them to open and see there is e-mail. Both accounts have 2-factor verification, and I already typed in the code I received via text. They were set up prior to the updates and could display new e-mail just fine. I made no changes to the settings.

EDIT: I have two other Gmail accounts that are NOT 2-factor and they read e-mail just fine.

I am assuming Gmail changed something on their end where X-notifier is not able to read the mailbox?

I have two gmail accounts. One with 2-factor and one without.

- The account without 2-factor authentication is working properly with X-notifier.
- At first I thought the account with 2-factor authentication was not working anymore with X-notifier. (it's greyed). It's because when I tried to type the code received via text it did not work.
However I finaly understood you have to type only the 6 digits received via text message and not the G letter in front of the digits.
I know...I'm stupid :-)

So everything is working fine for me.

My situation was completely the same but I found a solution. Open the Gmail account manually, logout, then click login button in the main window. You will see a page about account verification (this is the cause of the issue). Proceed to the next and now X-notifier works.

Just tried it but no luck...

Just to clarify...

I opened Gmail by manually clicking on the email with the problem in Xnotifier.

I then clicked log out in Gmail. It brought me back to the Gmail sign in screen.

I then went to Xnotifier and did "Check Now" to check for new e-mails.

It did not prompt me to check that specific account with 2-factor. No window for a code.

EDIT: nevermind I think I got it to work. I tried one other step within Xnotifier by disabling the app and then enabling (within the app option window itself). I will monitor it to make sure it's not some fluke.

I have a related problem, but maybe not exactly the same?

I have 2 gmail accounts 2 yahoo accounts, and one att.net account, which is actually a yahoo account.

I already had 2 step verification on all of them when I decided to change my passwords.

I can go directly to one gmail using xnotifier, but if I try to do the same with the other gmail account, it takes me to the gmail login page, where it eventually asks me to enter the verification code, even tho I select "Don't ask again on this computer"

Also, each time I select "check now" for the first time after opening the browser, I get the xnotifier login verification popups for  for the 2 google accounts, even if I am already logged into the gmail accounts.  Unless I fill in the the codes, the gmail accounts remain greyed out

The problems with yahoo predates the password change.  The yahoo accounts always remain greyed out.  They used to get checked and turn bold , but not now.

The att account is always bold

One other thing is that somehow 2 yahoo inboxes are shown when I open one yahoo account.  and three (including the att account) when I open the other.

If I try use xnotifier to open the yahoo account with the 2 inboxes, it works fine.  But, if I try to do the same with the yahoo account with 3 inboxes, it take me to the yahoo login page and eventually asks me for the verificatiion code.

The only normal account I have is the att account, and it only shows its own inbox.

thanks for listening

I deleted then reinstated all the email accounts on my phone, and that fixed having to manually login and include the verification code mfor the one gmail account I mentioned before, but x-notifier keeps prompting me for verification codes for both gmail accounts each time I select "check now", and my yahoo accounts are not checked at all

Tested on a fresh profile

I only get notifications for THIS forum and for the first gmail account on my list.  ALL my other gmail accounts and my Yahoo one cannot be accessible either from THIS X-notifier or by trying manually.  They have gone, as have two important Firefox Add-ons.  The Add-ons I can manage - just - without, but X-notifier has somehow cancelled ten gmail accounts and one Yahoo account.

Microsoft managed to open my Hotmail account as Hotmail is a part of Microsoft - they say that Google has removed all passwords because of possibly someone trying to get into all of my accounts and that X-notifier follows blindly where Google leads, and unless X-notifier releases the accounts [and I know all the passwords but X-notifier are following Google, then there is nothing that can be done.

I have tried to contact tobwithu with no success.  He ignores all emails.  Either he is dead or he was not getting enough donations for this site so decided to let people stew with inaccessible email accounts.

He has ignored all contacts and ignored all problems.

I have been in contact with Google and was informed that tobwithu has deleted all gmail email accounts.

It's very difficult for people to relay technical explanations, etc.

Tobwithu can only change the X-Notifier program, he does not do anything to gmail accounts, perhaps if your Win10 upgrade went badly, somehow Firefox passwords could have been corrupted. X-Notifier uses FF password security.  X-Notifier would have nothing to do with the process of logging in manually.  If your gmail accounts are currently suspended, only Google can help you... and X-Notifier will not be fixed until your manual logins are... You may need to delete your account definitions within X-Notifier Options and recreate them.  For the time being, you could disable or delete the accounts in X-Notifier... this will not affect gmail except to prevent X-Notifier from trying to log in.  You've mentioned you can't get into X-Notifier "Options" and you don't know how to uninstall it.  It's hard to help, if you can't do that... whereas a technician onsite might have you fixed up in an hour (if Google cooperates)... he could temporarily receive any SMS messages that needed to be exchanged.

Tobwithu has a life, and a job, and it is not X-Notifier... X-Notifier is 'donation-ware'.  It is a side-project (almost, one could say, a 'hobby', except that Tobwithu has been VERY GOOD to us in the past)... and he devotes as much time as he can, being that it is just a side-project that is only supported by donations from users... which can be few and far between sometimes, I'm sure.   X-Notifier has been pretty well taken care of for years... and occasional lapses happen.  I have sent a small inquiry to him (but I had to use an email account other than my normal one that I use to contact him, because I'm travelling).

There are some people having problems with two-step authentications, but there are hundreds of thousands of users and I don't see even hundreds of users saying their gmail died or doesn't work.  I have over twenty different email addresses, only three with gmail, and they're all working fine on Windows 10 and the latest browsers with X-Notifier installed. These forums are where users can work out their glitches on their own setups that many times have nothing to do with how X-Notifier works.  Sometimes X-Notifier needs a fix/update... but oftentimes people need to fix their own machines or conflicting add-ons.  Sorry to run on, but Tobwith really has done a decent job of maintaining this software.
