X-Notifier has stopped working for Yahoo! Mail AGAIN

X-Notifier 3.5.5, Firefox 36.0 (not 36.0.1), have one Yahoo! Mail account and one Gmail account. X-Notifier can no longer login and check the mail in my Yahoo! Mail account. I can login manually. Tried deleting cookies, re-installing - nothing. :(

If I right-click on the X-Notifier envelope and then click my Yahoo account in the drop-down list, my account is opened and I do see my inbox. So, my password is correct. But the tooltip on the add-on's icon says that the Yahoo account is "not checked" and the line for that account on the right-click menu is grayed out.

Also, I have another computer on the same network (i.e., with the same external IP), which I don't normally user but now fired it up for a test. The main differences are that it runs WinXP (instead of Win7, as my main computer) and I have updated Firefox to 36.0.1 there. X-Notifier is 3.5.5 on both machines. On the XP machine, the add-on logs in to my Yahoo account just fine. However, I do not know whether it is because Firefox is a different version, because the OS is different, or because Yahoo somehow can distinguish between the two computers (despite that they have the same IP externally) and doesn't show its two-factor authentication prompt on it (which obviously the add-on cannot handle).

Any other useful suggestions?

Just glancing at the problem, this sounds lie exactly what I was experienceing where Yahoo showed it was not checked, but clicking on the account allowed me to login without a problem.  But some of my accounts worked and some didn't.  I often had to clear cookies just for Yahoo daily until Admin released a new version of XN....but then still Yahoo decided to change things and broke again.  So now each time I experience a Yahoo login problem, I clear the cookies.  If I can manually login by clicking on the account, that will work for me untl Yahoo quits playing games.

Nothing is "corrupted" on my Win7 machine. However, Yahoo obviously is able of differentiating between the two machines. For some reason it has started asking for a second-factor authentication on my Win7 machine - but doesn't do so on my WinXP machine.

So, yes, the problem occurs because Yahoo did something to its login process - but it also occurs because X-Notifier cannot handle the change.

Long story short - X-Notifier does not work with my main e-mail account on my main machine. I've been fighting this issue for a week already. As I ALREADY wrote (TWICE), I DID delete my cookies and it did NOT help. As it is now, this add-on is useless to me.

If you have a problem with Yahoo and you have the latest XN, then it is Yahoo, no ifs ands or buts.  I have been there and has been working fine for a while, but could not care less f it fails since Yahoo would have made another change and  know it would eventually be fixed.  But if I was really concerned, I would go into my Options | Privacy |Show Cookies and delete everythign with the work Yahoo.  After that XN worked for me.

I do have the same problem. Yahoo can differentiate if there is a different machine that tries to logon. I think I know how the problem happens, just not sure how to fix it yet. My yahoo email is also set up in Thunderbird and manually retrieves mail to Thunderbird. The X-notifier problem seems to appear after retrieving Yahoo mail with Thunderbird. This has been happening for ages, Yahoo is mainly used as my junk and spam account now.

Exact same problem but just wanted to say not using two machines and not using thunderbird so would appear the possible reasons for the problem some are mentioning above wouldn't appear to be valid.  A pain i know when it should be showing how many emails are there unopened but as Vess pointed out above a right click on the envelope then a click on yahoo and it opens up just fine.  So more a minor inconvenience than a useless app.  just glad I have 4 hotmail and 1 yahoo account on it rather than the other way around  ;-)

I check five Yahoo! email accounts, as well as others. For some reason my main Yahoo! account stopped checking a couple of months ago. I'm not sure which versions, but my Firefox and X-Notifier are always up to date. I deleted the account, more than once, cleared cookies, etc. to no avail. Frustrating as it was just the one account. Today I switched from New Yahoo! Mail to Old, and voila it was working again. Switching back to New Mail it is still working. I can't say why, but hope it helps someone with a similar issue.

What appeared to have been fixed yesterday reappeared this morning. Flipping back to Old and back no longer works. Removing all yahoo cookies did, but temporarily. So back to square one, but again it's just the one account (default Yahoo) and that's pretty frustrating.

hi

I have a situation on X-notifier 3.5.23. When I add YAHOO accounts, it only opens the first one, the others don't count at ALL. So, what should I do ? I have tried everything btw (reinstall, deleting cookies, changed the browser...) still no luck at all.

I really need this. I appreciate any help asap

thank you.
