Accounts with Labels are not checked

I have notice a problem in my Gmail accounts that when messages have a label, they do not appear in the message count and therefore XN does not open that account.  If the messages do not have a label, then it is fine.

Go to the X-notifier Options window (Accounts tab) and uncheck the 'Notify inbox only' checkbox for your Gmail account (select the defined account). Also you can choose whether you want to see the labels (only in X-notifier window or sidebar).

I keep my Gmail pretty 'generic' so I don't know much about using labels... other than assigning them manually after receiving emails. So I don't know if they are applied automatically, but...
I just looked at Gmail, Settings, Labels, and... there are system labels at top and custom labels at bottom of list (scroll down)...
There are show/hide options... in label list and in message list.  Are any of your labels 'hidden'?

Very interesting jeroen.  I have not had this problem before and the box is checked.  But, the e-mails that I get are also in the inbox but already have a label on them.  Maybe something has changed????

To be crystal clear:

  1. When the 'Notify inbox only' checkbox is checked (as in your case), your labeled messages will not get notified by XN and will not appear in the message count. This is the correct behavior!
  2. You have (probably?) turned off the standard Gmail behavior to show Primary, Social, Commercial labeled messages in separate columns. When Gmail introduced this new 'feature' back in summer 2013, lots of people complained and asked here on the forum how to turn it off (prevent Gmail from categorizing). Hint: You were one of them...
