[Q&A] Enable/Disable on Check-on-startup & Auto-checking

Forums:

X-notifier user asked:

  1. With X-Notifier disabled and starting Firefox is X-Notifier supposed to check for email? I would think it should not.
  2. Since the item above does not work as I would expect if I have X-Notifier disabled is it for sure does not check any email accounts?
  3. Offer an option to time-delay the first email check.  If x-notifier waited 10seconds until Firefox loaded, I would be happy.  If I could set it longer, it would be even better.

RpD's answer:

It appears, to me, that UNchecking the ‘Enable’ item…
simply stops X-Notifier from checking based on the interval set in X-Notifier ‘Options’
… and …
it does not disable ‘Check on startup’ in X-Notifier ‘Options’.

So you may need to UNcheck “Check on startup”, if you want that disabled also.

UNchecking “Enable” is just a way to stop auto-checking… not the ‘Check on startup’ option.

Also explain more...
In Mozilla versions (Firefox/Sea Monkey/Thunderbird), if we right-click the X-Notifier envelope icon...
There is an 'Enable' menu selection that can be clicked to checkmark it Enabled, or UNcheckmark it Disabled...
Which quickly turns off all checking for the extension without disabling the entire extension.

Probably Safari does not have this, sharing features with Chrome/Opera version, I believe...
Chrome does not have an 'Enable' item on X-Notifier pop-up menu.
