Have to log in to mail account everytime I push XN button?...

Why is it I have to log in to Gmail  when I push the XN button? I used XN with windows xp and it was working fine: I push the XN button and  Gmail inbox folder opens automatically. Why isn't it like that anymore with windows 8?

I would uninstall and reinstall it again.

So...  when you click the X-Notifier envelope icon, it always takes you to a new tab with Gmail login waiting?
(Or it simply doesn't log you into your Gmail Inbox ...when XN icon indicates new mail?)

I am using X-Notifier with my browsers (and Thunderbird) on Windows 8 and it works as expected... logging me into my account(s), into Inbox, in a new tab, when I click the XN envelope icon.

Note:  The latest version of XN lets you define an account without entering a password... so it will prompt you for the password when checking mail for those accounts.

1) When you have new emails noted by the orange XN icon with number... clicking that envelope icon should open all the accounts that have new email, in new tabs... one for each account with new email ...logged into your Inbox(es)

2) When you do -not- have any new emails (the XN icon is gray)... clicking that gray envelope icon should open the first email account listed in the X-Notifier Options account definition list, in a new tab.  I usually make sure XN-forums is my first account listed, so I can visit the forums by clicking the gray XN icon.

Is your Gmail the first account listed/defined in XN 'Options', and does it have the password defined?

Or do I have the problem you're describing... wrong?   If XN (in your Windows 8 setup) never logs you into Inbox, then you could try deleting the account definition, restarting browser, then redefining the account... or do as Tr3b has suggested (uninstall X-Notifier, restart browser, reinstall X-Notifier), because something isn't working right... X-Notifier works fine with Windows 8.

I have only gmail on it. It sometimes opens in inbox and sometimes I have to log in, it does as it likes. But as my PC is new, I expect it to consolidate with time. It's the same with all electronic devices: they act strange sometimes!

Well.... electronics can seem capricious some times ;)...

One reason...
If you log out from a tab... and then soon after, try to open the account in a tab again, before X-Notifier has reached it's email checking interval... then you'll likely have to log in when you open the tab.

Logging out closes the connection... until X-Notifier does another email check in the background, making a connection again.

But if the envelope icon indicates new mail... clicking it should take you to your Inbox.  If it doesn't, then an uninstall/reinstall may help.

Do you have any (cookie) cleaning programs running? Perhaps that is clearing the X-Notifier cookies needed to log in automatically.
