GMX (with Navigator) Error Message

Hello,

everytime I log out of GMX and try to reopen the GMX site (with navigator) with X-notifier I get following error message:

 https://picasaweb.google.com/lh/photo/7eD8gpZStc4zDdEgLAAt0HyLPK5GjQ73po...

When I delete the GMX entry in X-notifier and add the same entry again I am able to get to the GMX site (with navigator) again. I am able to get to the GMX site if I do not log out and try it within a certain period of time. I think when I am automatically logged out of GMX I get the above error message again. When I log in through the normal GMX login site, I am advised to log out with the logout button. Is it just me experiencing this problem? Please help, if possible.

Thank you.

kind regards,

Pete

If you logout from GMX, it invalidate X-notifier's session.Don't logout from GMX if you want to keep logged in.

Even if I do not log out I am getting this error message after sometime. As mentioned above, GMX will log me out automatically. If I log in to GMX and close the tab and then try to open GMX again with X-notifier I get the error message as well.

I guess GMX server doing 'the' first company to block any "ping" from any email notifier to reduce on their (GMX) server load ? ?

Get around? download Chrome and install X-notifier and put TWO GMX account!

Click first account and it will open... Once GMX "auto log it out for you(GMX user)".

You click on second GMX and have checked and do NOT open, then click first GMX account and click to open without any problem.

Keep in mind I have NOT test with GMX account (I do NOT have one.),
but I have similar problem with other domain account.

If you do NOT want Chrome installed! and I guess you might to live with quit Firefox and open Firefox and it will work fine...without any UN-install or play around with your account on X-notifier.

Keep in mind Tobwithu did put "default email check at 10 minutes".
Did you go lower to 2 minutes to check GMX email? (GMX server think you try "Ping to Death" that cause 'auto log it out for you'.)
IF, Yes why don't you go back to 10 minutes?
IF, No why don't you 'try' raise to 15 minutes?)

Let talk about IMAP and POP3

I just check website and find it out they have....

+++++++++++++++

Username which is your complete email address, e.g. john.doe@gmx.com
Incoming Server which is either a POP3 or IMAP server
Outgoing Server which is the SMTP server

You can use the following different server and port configurations for GMX.COM:

* POP3 Server: pop.gmx.com
* POP3 Port: 110 or 995 (when using SSL)
* SMTP Server: mail.gmx.com (for POP and IMAP)
* SMTP Port: 25 or 587 or 465 (when using SSL)
* IMAP4 Server: imap.gmx.com
* IMAP4 Port: 143 or 585 or 993 (when using SSL)

+++++++++++++++

IMAP on your X-notifier and link "http[s??]://www.gmx.???/__________".

It will ping to email server DIRECTLY without go 'via' webased email...

Try and let us know, Thanks CFBancroft

EDIT: Now I understand that you (PeteSahad) "Ping" 61 minutes, that toooo long, as Tobwithu post below, try setting at 30 minutes, if not try 25, go down 20, go down 15, go down to 10 minutes that Tobwith's default time setting at 10 minutes.

Firts of all,

thank you for your replies.

I do not want to use Chrome. First I had also a second GMX account working with the old GMX survace. Now I am using only one account and try to find the right X-notifier settings that are working for the new GMX site. By the way, it is not about GMX.com but GMX.net. Currently I have set the checking period for 61 minutes. IMAP is only for paying users. POP may be an option, but why is there a GMX script at all. I just want to click the X-notifier symbol to go to the GMX site where I can check my e-mails immediately. GMX is offering an E-Mail checker themselves, but it comes along with a toolbar. What are the settings "Use multiple login" and "Keep sessions for links" for?

If you have more than one account on the same script, and want to login to more than one at a time...
...and if you click link in your email and want to keep account session (rather than default)...

This post explains multiple login and keeps sessions...

Do you allow your browser to 'remember' passwords?

I am using mail.com accounts, which GMX owns, and I get automatically logged out too... but I can always log back in... using FF 20 and X-Notifier 3.1.3/3.1.4

The reason you are logged out automatically is that you set too long check period.
GMX script does 'PING' when it checks mail count.

Try to set the check period to 30 minutes.
If it does not work, decrease it by 5 minutes.

I've set the check period to 60 minutes. The error message is not appearing, as long as I'am not logging out. That's the good news. The bad news is that inside GMX site sometimes my sessions is recreated but it does not load. So if I have to check my mails immediately I've to log out and in again and then I cannot login with GMX script again for some time. This period I have to figure out.

If you can figure out the time period that GMX uses to 'recreate' or logout, then you can set your check period to be less than that and it should defeat GMX's 'recreate'/logout.

Or just choose a shorter period... many people use the default of 10 minutes.  Why do you insist on 60?  10 is no problem for email providers... they just don't like it under 5 minutes.  Really.. 15-20 minutes should be more than slow enough for your provider, and avoid the 'recreate'/logout, and not all that frequent for you.

I mean... try it. ......  If the problem goes away... problem solved ....then you can lengthen the time, until the problem comes back, and you'll know the limit.

I do not insist on 60 minutes. I started with 15. Currently I am on 30 and I got the error again. I think it depends when XN checks the mails and when I am trying to login. So this error message can appear anytime, as I am not logging the check times of XN. If I reduce the period it is more likely that I wont get the error, but I will try it again with 15 minutes and will report.

Hi All,

I reduced the period to 15 minutes and I am constantly getting the error message now. As I described above GMX is showing a different site when I log in manually then. I have to press an "OK"-Button to confirm that I have not logged out from my last session. Therefore I think the XN script does not work then, as it is not the normal site showing when logging in GMX. I set the period to 10 minutes now, maybe that helps.

Perhaps if you log into your account at GMX.net, you could review account settings to see if there's anything you can adjust... timeout or auto-logout or something.
Note: I have more than one Facebook account, and the accounts can get confused when I'm logged in manually to a tab with one account and then X-Notifier checks all my accounts.  Solution is to login via X-Notifier account list... clicking the account in the drop-down X-Notifier list to open it in a new tab... (rather than directly/manually), then it's not affected/confused (errored).

Hello,

as Firefox 19.x and 20.x user, I'd like to confirm the described problem since GMX (.de .net) has changed the webmail layout.
I've tried already to not logout, to change the push mail option (5, 10, 30, 60 mins), and so on, but the result is the same: X-Notifier can just notifiy new mails but when I want to open the webmail, then, the error appear.
With past GMX webmail layout and x-notifier plugin version, I had no problems at all.

Thanks for the quick reply.

I just cleaned cache and cookies but unfortunately the result is the same.

Any ideas? Thank you again.

hi :)

same problem here with firefox 20 and firefox 12. I tried about every possible variation of settings, older scripts etc, it's always the same.
First time I try to open up my gmx accounts via x-notifier icon it works like a charm, with all of them. Then after some time (it always variies about 30 minutes and more) when I try accessing gmx web-mail I get above mentioned error.
And this error doesnt go away until I restart firefox, sometimes not even then.

I also tried clearing cache, deleting cookies, history etc. It seems to me that x-notifier saves session-id and after a certain amount of time when account is forcibly logged out - or id reset - this id isnt valid anymore. Funny thing is, changing the "save session id" option to unset or set doesnt change anything.

It really is rather sad, loved that addon :)

It is hard to resolve this problem, because I can't reproduce it.
I need your help.

Please create new Firefox profile.
Install X-notifier and GMX script.
Enter your GMX account(or create new GMX account and enter it)
Check if it is not working.

Send your Firefox profile folder to xndevel@gmail.com

Hi

I also have these problems with XN, using two GMX accounts.

Problem occurs also with using only one account.

This moring there was no "error" message, like in the picture from Pete, but on GMX Website a text was shown:

"Due to Security reason, you have been logged out after 3 hours of inactivity"

I thought the using XN with opened FireFox is "activity" on GMX.....

Maybe this helps to sort this out.

XN Settings for GMX:

auto login : yes

auto login default account: yes

use multiple login: yes

keep session for links: yes

Hi,

I tried to reproduce the error creating a newprofile and GMX account, but I failed. I guess it is time for a new firefox profile.

Please check if the new script (2013-04-20) works.

It took long time to fix, because it took 3 hours for session expiration.

Dear tobwithu,

thank you for fixing the issue. So far it seems that this problems seems to be resolved with your latest gmx script update. The only thing that prevents to get directly to the GMX site, where the inbox can be chosen, with XN, is when you are logging out, but that is ok.

Thank you again and best regards,

Pete

The GMX-script works now pretty well. - The web.de-script unfortunately still doesn’t.

Hi,

also had quite a lot of problems reproducing this error with a new profile. So I started looking into my old profile but couldnt find anything that would explain this. And in addition to this, it stopped working altogether with my old profile, very frustrating ;)

Anyways, the new script works like a charm. Thank you so very much :)

Hi there,

also with using the new GMX script I have problems with "auto logout" after 3 hours with one account.

the "default" is working fine, but the second is logged out after some time.

Website says "Due to Security reason, you have been logged out after 3 hours of inactivity"

even if the XN still checks my mails and indicates that there is a new mail.

Errormessage is indicated when trying to open the GMX mailwebsite.

Maybe you can help?

auto login default account: yes

use multiple login: yes

keep session for links: yes

works now with new version!

I am unable to login to gmx.com even after updating script

Dear Co-users of x-notifier!

Since yesterday the x-notifier does not check the e-mails of my GMX.at-account. When I rest with the cursor on the X-notifier-logo it says (in red letters): "GMX: nicht überprüft", i.e. "GMX: not checked".

When clicking on the logo I get to the startpage of gmx where I have to login manually to see my mails.

Has anybody encountered the same problem and knows how to resolve it?

Thanks in advance for any hint.

Yours!

Andreas

I updated the script.

Hello tobwithu!

THANK YOU VERY MUCH for your immediate help! With the updated script the X-mail-notifier works again with GMX.

Best regards!
