Issues between X-Notifier and Self-Destructing Cookies (addon) on Firefox

Hello everyone,

I have some issues using X-Notifier and the Self-Destructing Cookies addon for Firefox

Both addons work correctly separately. But together, it's a mess. I'm using a gmail account with 2 step verification. Self-Destructing Cookies keeps deleting cookies from X-Notifier, so X-Notifier keeps on asking for the verification code of my google account.

One person on the Self-Destructing Cookies addon page suggest to go to about:config and change "extensions.xnotifier.saveCookies" to false. But it did not change anything.

Another person said: "Regarding X-Notifier, I suspect that as X-Notifier creates and tears down site sessions in a HTML aware fashion, these temporary sessions are treated as closed tabs and yet may be side stepping SDC's tab-orientated whitelist. To some extent I think preserving and reintroducing authentication credentials is a responsibility of X-Notifier as otherwise X-Notifier won't play nice with various vanilla Firefox privacy settings."

I like these addons and would like to have them work correctly at the same time. If anyone can fix the problem, it would be great!

Have a nice day

Here is what i found out on lot of these add-ons lately, try disabling all them than enable them than refresh your browser that might take care of things for you, i have the same trouble going on with the X-Notifier and the Adblocks Edge, i get tired of every time having to do this while online but i have no other choice, i wish i didn't have to do this either but i haven't  found the issue to correct mine except for what i just said here so who knows, i wish you good luck too cause i like the add-ons too

Thanks CyberToothTiger,

I already disabled all my addons then enabled them half by half (for another reason) and the problem is still there.
In fact, Self-Destructing Cookies displays a message stating it destructed the X-notifier cookies (cookies names are displayed) and I don't know how to protect them from destruction.

Perhaps you can protect them by Firefox's whitelist?
The following is from the add-ons' mozilla.org page, 'About this Add-on'...

You can whitelist sites whose cookies and LocalStorage you would like to keep without an active tab... in the Firefox cookie exception list, which can also be conveniently accessed from the add-on's preferences, or an icon in the Add-on Bar.

Q: The entire whitelist is empty each time I restart Firefox.
A: You probably have Firefox's privacy preferences set to "Clear History when Firefox closes" and included "Site Preferences" in the corresponding menu. SDC's whitelist is stored as site preferences.

Q: A specific site forgets my login, even though it is on my whitelist.
A: If you added the entries manually, make sure you whitelisted the base domains of your sites (e.g. "example.com", not "www .example.com"). That's where cookies are generally stored.
If you added it via the icon, the login might depend on external domains. Keep an eye on the removal notifications the next time you log *in* there. The domains that appear in the following seconds are probably the ones you want on your whitelist as well.

Your all welcome i try to help, i know the X-Notifier and Adblock isn't working 100% for me so will see what goes on here :)

Please install this beta version.
http://xnotifier.tobwithu.com/files/ff/beta.php

And set 'extensions.xnotifier.saveCookies' to 'false' in 'about:config'.

Hello RpD, I tried to protect the cookies in Firefox but it failed because of the # in the cookie name (the domain name is truncated just before the #).

I will install the beta version tomorrow morning CET (it's on my work computer and I'm home right now). Thanks for the help

Hello tobwithu,

I installed the beta, set 'extensions.xnotifier.saveCookies' to 'false' in 'about:config' and now it works like a charm! Self-Destructing Cookies still takes care of the cookies and X-notifier protects its own cookies.

Great, just what I was hoping!

Thanks for having fixed that so quickly :)

Please tobwithu,

Could you integrate your solution on the next upgrade. I think Self-Destructing Cookies a very important addon  - as important your's ! . But now FF don't accept anymore to install your beta

Thanks
