- You posted your problem in the Firefox forum. Is that correct?
- Which of the existing 3 GMX scripts do you use?

Just wanted to drop in and say hi, new to this forum and looking to pick up some tips.

I have the sam problem for a week at this moment. I use the GMX.com script. Because my address end at .com

jeroen's picture

Try this:

  1. Copy the GMX script and rename it (like GMX2.COM).
  2. Open your 2nd script with a texteditor (like notepad).
  3. Change the var name (like GMX2.COM) and save your 2nd script.
  4. Now use your 2nd script in XN for your 2nd account.
  5. Optionally you can group your 2 accounts by Alias in Firefox.
    (like GMX/GMX1 & GMX/GMX2)
  6. Do it again when the GMX script gets an update...
or forget it when the update solves the issue.

(I do this with my 2nd Tele2 account on Opera Next/Chrome)

Drupal should implement a 'Like' option for posts ;)

Are you talking to me, RpD? If so, I'm truly honoured!
Actually, I have had the same thought lots of times in respect to your tremendous input on this forum!!

Happy end of the year,
Jeroen

Homeboy's picture

So, as I understand now... you didn't update your GMX script for a long time?
Then your problem might very well be solved by the "new version"...
(not clear what you mean by that)

Homeboy's picture

i have the new version of Xnotifer but the problem of the old one is also in the new version.

btw: why you cant understand so much ? it is clearly written!

jeroen's picture

Well, I now understand you mean the latest version of XN versus a certain old XN version. And not a new version of one of the 3 GMX XN scripts.

Let us know if my solution works for you, Homeboy.

Homeboy's picture

which solution ?

Happy beginning of next.

not the script here on website. IN THE ACTUAL VERSION! (=XNOTIFIER)

where i found the script(s) in the actual xnotifier version!

oh, man. it is a circle with you.

why you are making all so complicated.

you didnt understand it right now?!

later you understand it right, but yet you write a link to the old wrong answer of from your own post.

Homeboy, I don't know if English is your primary language... but what you describe is NOT 'clearly written'.

The GMX scripts are a CUSTOM script and only found on the "Scripts" page... they do not come with X-Notifier.
They can only be added to X-Notifier by downloading from the Scripts page (unless you got them somewhere else that nobody here knows about).

You seem to be 'badgering' someone who was trying to help (Jeroen).
He offered a way to manually edit and copy the existing GMX script, so that you would have two scripts that  would work, one for each GMX account... until the X-Notifier author can investigate and correct any problem that might exist in the GMX scripts.   I say "might exist" because sometimes it's just the user's installation that has gotten corrupted somehow... and not a fault in the existing script.  Jeroen is NOT the X-Notifier author or technical support.  This is a support forum where users try to help each other, until the X-Notifier author has the time to respond and fix things.

So... please don't be impatient, or irritated with others trying to help.   There are many users from many countries here in these forums and even people speaking in their primary language can't always make themselves clear to others.   They way you write, it wasn't exactly clear and then you seemed 'terse' and inconsiderate/offensive in your replies.

There may not be an 'official' fix for the two account problem right now.  BUT... -YOU- can make a second GMX script... so that you have two different scripts which will each check a different GMX account.  Jeroen gave you the steps to do that 'workaround' until there is an official fix.  And that's IF the X-Notifier author can reproduce the problem... to fix it.

Sorry if you're not understanding what we post... trying to help you.   But in reply, you should be 'gracious' and not be terse or combative.
And that's all I'm going to say.

We definitely need a Like button 8-)

Homeboy's picture

i have clearly written!

"You seem to be 'badgering' someone who was trying to help (Jeroen). " - Where i did it here ?

Tell me...he linked a answer from himself that not help, again and where i ask a question about it, what he not understand.

clearlier - at the old version of xnotifer i see the gmx script that i have load in.

but in the new version i didnt found it. whre is the part of scripts in the new xnotifier version ?that was the question! nothing else, and HE answer to again the same with the script  page.

what in all of the world help me the script, when i didnt found the place where the scripts are in the new version of xnotifer.

all of it is easy to understand when you follow the thread, but whe he didnt can read, he cant help.

but the disrespection is baddest way. He can say it to his friends or wife,  but not to me over the internet!

what is is for a respection of this guys to say IDIOT to me?

is he a vip person here can do what he want here.

"hey way you write, it wasn't exactly clear and then you seemed 'terse' and inconsiderate/offensive in your replies."

WHERE I DID IT ?

HE DID IT!

@RpD: Apparently Homeboy doesn't know how to add scripts to XN. I'll leave it up to you to decide whether you want to make it clear to him. I lost my appetite with this character.

** Well...

Obviously it's 'clear' to you... but just saying that it's clear... does not make it clear to us.
Sometimes we have to take baby steps, and say things differently, to make ourselves understood.

First you say... one GMX account works, and second one does not.
(We have to assume you're using Firefox with Windows... what versions of Firefox and Windows??).

That is a problem that only -some- other users have posted about... and one 'workaround', is to make another copy of the GMX.com script, rename it, and edit it to make a second slightly different GMX script... to use with  your second account.

 - Your GMX.com script is only working with one account, so... you can make a slightly different copy of the GMX.com script to access the second account, by itself... then each copy of GMX.com script will access only one account.  The temporary fix is to make two GMX.com scripts (slightly different) and use the two scripts to each access -one- of your GMX accounts.  We don't know how to explain to you any better than that... except with the steps that Jeroen posted.  If you don't understand, or think you do and just dismiss the idea... then we can't help you.  You should at least TRY the steps that were suggested.

You say:

"...at the old version of xnotifer i see the gmx script that i have load in.

but in the new version i didnt found it. whre is the part of scripts in the new xnotifier version ? "

Are you saying that you updated X-Notifier and all your scripts disappeared??
Or did you UNinstall the old X-Notifier (removing user data)... and then installed the newer X-Notifier???
Or... after you updated, that you simply can't find where the custom scripts are stored by X-Notifier on your computer?

Anyway... you talk about old and new versions of X-Notifier... but I think Jeroen thought you were talking about old and new versions of GMX.com scripts.  Is that it??   His 'solution' was clearly posted with a series of numbered steps... but  you say "which solution?".

Then you ask where to find the scripts... and Jeroen says to find them on the Scripts page at X-Notifier support website.
However, it appears you meant to ask where the scripts were stored in X-Notifier on your computer??  Is that right??
Well... it really doesn't matter where the scripts are stored, because you can download gmx.com.js again ...and modify the downloaded script... to add to X-Notifier again as a second gmx2.com.js script to work with your second account.

Ok, then...

Here is a more detailed description of Jeroen's steps...

First, so you know... the custom scripts, like "gmx.com.js", that you've already added to X-Notifier... in Windows, are stored by Firefox/X-Notifier in...

C:\Users\{your username}\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\{random characters}.default\xnotifier

Either you go there^ to copy the gmx.com.js script (to Windows desktop), so you can edit the copy...
............or you just download it again (<<simpler)...
...then you rename the copy of gmx.com.js script to something else like "gmx2.com.js"...

Then you have to edit that "gmx2.com.js" script file... use 'Notepad' to change the programming line for "Var name" to:  GMX2.COM

Then you save that new, edited gmx2.com.js script.

Then go to Firefox, X-Notifier, 'Options', Scripts... and you 'Add' the gmx2.com.js script to X-Notifier...

Click the "Scripts" button, click "Add", browse to where you saved the edited script, and select your new gmx2.com.js file, then click 'OK'

You will then have two GMX.COM scripts (different names) showing in the drop-down script list in X-Notifier Options, for defining new accounts...   You will see both GMX.COM and GMX2.COM scripts in the X-Notifier, Options... when  you click the scripts list for adding new accounts.

So...  you delete  your second non-working GMX.com account from the X-Notifier, Options defined accounts list

And then you (re)add an account (your second GMX.com account), using the GMX2.COM script.

That way... each GMX script will work with one account.  Both accounts will be defined but each with a different script... one account defined with GMX.COM and one defined with GMX2.COM

You see?

When you say:

"oh, man. it is a circle with you.

why you are making all so complicated.

you didnt understand it right now?!"

It's not very polite...

...you're not understanding each other and you say "oh, man. it is a circle with you."  So you're frustrated and saying he's making it "complicated".   Well... the workaround isn't totally simple, but it's not really very complicated - if you just download the GMX.COM script again ...instead of looking for it on your computer.

At those times when you feel annoyed... you need to take a deep breath and explain again in different words... especially when both of you are using a language which is a second language for you both, I think.

Ok. Can you use the steps above to create a separate GMX.com script for your second account... now?

Good luck.

We all say things we shouldn't... sometimes.  I'm not blaming one or the other of you... it's just a mistake on both sides, I think.

That's all I'm going to contribute here, because I don't know any other fix... except to wait for the X-Notifier author (IF he can test/experience the problem)... to fix it.

Hi, Jeroen! Hi, RdP!

Just a little note here to say that I admire your patience and dedication. This guy... Homeland... sounds so rude... and so "%#@£µ#!"!!!
Reading a little more closely his "english" (even if clearly better than mine), I'm afraid this guy and I got born in the same country.   :o/

;-)

jeroen's picture

Appreciated, coyot51!

But RpD is the real dedicated and patient one here.
And for what it's worth: I don't see any violations against the english grammar, although I'm not sure about "%#@£µ#!" ;-)
