Hotmail on X-notifier logs me out every day at the same time
Hey guys, I'm hoping SOMEONE can help me here. I've been using X-notifier for years and have never had this issue.
Long story short, X-notifier logs out of my hotmail account in what I think is the same time every day. I don't delete cookies, I can access hotmail without logging in through x-notifier. However, X-notifier, it's as if it deletes the login every day . It only started this maybe 6-8 months ago and has never fixed itself. Again, if I just go to my hotmail account through Chrome I do not need to log in. But, every day at a certain time, I have to relogin through x-notifier if I want that plugin to continue looking for new emails.

Security, cleaner
Do you have some kind of security or cleaning software that may be clearing settings every day?

Login Session
The login session can expire, as can cookies the login session depends on. The script notices this and X-notifier is designed to then logout, reset cookies and login again on next checking cycle. You can also force this re-login by clicking Check Now. Perhaps accidently you click the account while it is indeed temporarily logged out? It is not clear to me how you notice being logged out during one checking cycle. What Check interval do you use?

@RpD no, no cleaning nor
@RpD no, no cleaning nor security programs installed. That's why I've been confused with this. Nor is Chrome resetting the cookies. It's ONLY x-notifier.
@jeroen .. The interval is every 3 min. I know it logs me out because when you single click on x-notifier, if you're logged in the account is black. If you're logged out, it's red. Click on the red account and it takes you to the login screen for hotmail. However, I know it's x-notifier because if the account is red and I manually go to hotmail, instead of going there through the plugin, I'm not logged out.

Makes sense
Next time you notice it is red, click Check Now: this should log you back in, as would next check cycle.
Clicking the red account gives you the login page: makes perfect sense.

the next check cycle doesn't
the next check cycle doesn't do it, it'll sit for days like that until I wonder why I'm not getting email notifications and realize that I forgot to log it back in until the next day. But ok, will do, I will try the check now and see if it does auto log me back in once it logs me out today. Thank you for the suggestion.

Mmm...
That's not very promising, then Check now should give same result as next cycle...

In regards to cookies, just
In regards to cookies, just fyi. My cookies do not auto delete, nor do I delete them. I have gmail apps that work perfectly. Nothing is every logged out of automatically like this. In fact, this app has been working great for years until this situation. But cookies aren't on a timer to delete and having to relogin to hotmail occurs even if I never close the browser. It's only this app and only recently (as in the past 5 mo or so), and I've only updated my OS, nothing else. Yet it's a daily occurrence.

login cookies
So you never deleted the live.com cookies. I would give that a try: an expired cookie can block the login process. Perhaps only the login ones:
opera://settings/cookies/detail?site=login.live.com (copy/paste address)
btw: this is standard procedure: http://xnotifier.tobwithu.com/dp/node/4 step 2

Perhaps checking interval too short?
I thought I remember that Microsoft accounts servers don't like being 'hammered' and that they specified an interval of 15 minutes... but I have mine set to the default 10 minutes and have no problem with hotmail, outook, or live.com accounts. You may want to try a longer interval.

@jeroen, no go on deleting the Live.com cookies, did that yesterday and just got logged out. But thanks for the suggestion!
@RpD, I'll give that a go! If that's the case then that must be a new thing? x-notifier has worked for me for years at that interval. In fact, I used to have it at 1 min way back when.

Re-install?
Have you tried reinstalling the addon? A good troubleshooter.
I would Export my accounts. Remove the addon and data, clear cache and cookies, shutdown browser... re-open browser, re-add the addon, Import accounts.
Tedious as it is, if that doesn't work... is to do the same, but instead of Import, simply re-define the accounts from scratch.
Then I might check other addons... other software on computer... and Hotmail account settings.
Just what I would do.

I would do this in a new profile (Profile icon @top-right: Manage people), to exclude your other addons as possible cause.

FYI
X-notifier nowadays is designed to log you back in when you get logged out (after a webserver set time or cookie expiration f.i.). So the issue is not getting logged out, but login failure. You should not need to login manually.
Mail provider webservers get updated with security login measures on a different time schedule, so it is very possible you are one of the first X-notifier user victims concerning Hotmail. I only have one Hotmail account.
I now realize I have this issue with a number of my many, but not so important Gmail accounts. They do not get logged in by X-notifier. And when you define such an account as the default one in X-notifier, all your accounts will fail (logout). In that case try experiment making one of your other still working accounts the default.

thanks jeroen. Unfortunatelly I do not use x for any other account, just my one hotmail account. I use checker plus for gmail. So this hotmail issue on mine, there's only 1 account it's checking.

Hotmail
Hmm. One wonders if it could be a Hotmail setting in the account settings on Hotmail.
I haven't looked at them. Just wonder if there's a 'log me out if inactive for...' or something.
I have a hotmail, outlook.com, and live.com account and have never had this happen.
Does it really always happen at the same time of day?
Wondering when that is and what time zone you're in, if you don't mind.

that's one of the strange
that's one of the strange things about this. I get logged out of hotmail only in x-notifier. So if I use the extention with the hotmail account in red, I have to log in. However, if x-noti shows red (logged out) but I go to my email by just typing in the url or any other way (through google, etc) other than x-notifier, I don't have to log in, the email opens already logged in. lol.
as far as the time, I mostly mean that it logs me out like once every 24 hours. So if it constantly log in at 2 pm, I will have to log in by 2pm the following day. However, if I forget and log in at 5pm, it will log me out at 5pm ish the next day.

I tried something last night and xnotifier hasn't kicked me out yet. I'll let it marinate over night, see what the morning holds. But, if it's good I'll post what seemed to be the issue. Fingers crossed. :)
